I don't own it now but my all time favorite was my SW 41 with Aim Point red dot.

Now I have SW 617 with either 4 or 6" barrels. The 6" is wearing a Leupold scope.

I have actually. I would want one with the picatinny section on the rear, add a brace, a scope, and have a compact squirrel getter. The issue is I also want it more compact than that to fit in a pack for hike in and out of more remote areas. This is where the dilemma is. I am in no absolute rush due to current PA laws, but I want a plan for when they change. Meanwhile, my Contender handgun and other rifles will fill the larder.

I found a Buckmark. It does not look as nice as the stainless URX I had years ago, but I still like it.

Pretty much what I've got but my scope is fixed 4x. I carry a sock stuffed with rice for support.

I went with a mk4 Hunter. I then bought an upper from VQ and had them thread it. Wirthwein Guns also has mk4 uppers for sale. One of the prettiest sights in hunting is watching a squirrel do a one-and-a-half from 70 feet up a hickory tree.

I can't imagine why they would not let you hut squirrel with a handgun there. Any good quality pistol or revolver with adjustable sights will do. Most autos will shoot circles around most revolvers. There are exceptions of course.

Something simple but deadly: Ruger Mark III or IV Hunter with 6 7/8 inch barrel with any scope. This is a 2 X Leupold.

Sorry guys, no semi auto handguns for small game in Pa. This does the job pretty well.

If you're in Pennsylvania you could be waiting a long time for the regs. to change. Why wait? Get a revolver and go hunting. Hunting squirrel with a revolver is a lot of fun and is very challenging. I use a Ruger Single Six with fire sights. But, any quality revolver should do fine. I load it with CCI Mini-Mags, mostly. They do make a pretty good crack out of the 6 1/2" barrel. I use CCI Quiets, too. These are much more pleasant to shoot without hearing protection.

I think you'll discover that shots have to be taken within 20 yards though. Squirrel camo is really good when you're focused on the front sight. Beyond 20 they disappear. Perhaps a red dot could allow for two eyes and stretch the range a bit. Remember, the field is not the range.

Yeah, that's the ticket for shots beyond 20 yards. Very nice set up.
