Ive shot Hi Standards for over and beyond my competency curve and own a sh lot of them now. Those 103 and 104 bull barrel slant grips are treasures that are mostly overlooked by the herd. These pistols offer fit, feel and balance out of the box unlike anything else out there considered factory stock. Plus the trigger and sights are equal to their pricier brothers. That 104 you have will provide you almost everything you need to compete at upper levels sans a scope if you cant do iron sights. The 7 fluted barrel is sexier but the slant grip bull barrel will fit and feel like it belongs there. Pick the guns up, close your eyes and take a stance then tell yourself which feels better. I know the answer

Yes the slant grip I think is a better feeling gun to me and the trigger is the best today I shot 300 rounds threw both not one problem and since they had been shot I got a great deal on them so I passed on two un fired ones he had

This gun and its manual come from over 50 years ago when there were not the array of cleaning solution on the market that we have today. Kerosene is hard to find and the newer solutions sold today are probably better.

My approach is regular cleaning so that there is never a build up requiring a "soaking" in anything. Every gun I own (and there are many) gets field takedown cleaned after every shooting session whether I shot 10 shots or 200. No gun EVER goes back into the safe dirty.

How to clean a gun and with what is an active conversation when brought up. Everyone has their opinion on when and what with. I knew a Navy Reserve rifle team member (think M1 Garand competition) who NEVER cleaned his gun. He felt it would loose its accuracy from the cleaning. Crazy but he got to choose!

Yes I agree never put gun back dirty and there are better products than kerosene these days.what was nice manual listed every part and had diagram ! Two page manual for them is much better than the ones you get on new guns today

I am like LD, I just can't put a dirty gun back in the safe. Even if I only fired one round to dispatch of a varmint/pest, I still run a patch through the barrel before putting it away.
