scope ready carbine barrel?

The "new" (at least to me) scope-ready carbine appears to have a slightly heavier taper to me. Or is this just the photo and the lack of a front sight, etc. giving an illusion of such?

This carbine is on Rural King's site, and I found it (and a darker stock variation) on Bud's as well...

haven't actually checked to see if the standard sporter barrel fits in my new Carbine stock...just assumed they were the same

and from what I've seen, the stock is available in 3 colors so far..black, charcoal, and gray

The portion of the barrel near the muzzle is slightly thicker, about .600" as opposed to .556" for a standard carbine barrel. But the measurement I get at the location of the end of the stock is essentially identical for both. Judging by eye, the portion of the barrel that sits in the stock has the same external dimensions.

The finish on these barrels is quite dull as well, and easily scratched.
