Upon further thought, I don't think it's swaged so much as sheared to size. I bet the sheared bullet comes out first then the sheared remnants.

Good point. Shooting at a large piece of paper would confirm. This makes me want to shoot one more!

I don't know, these are un-jacketed bullets we're talking about and lead is very soft. The softness of those bare lead bullets and the lead angle of the throat being somewhere around 1-ish degrees, I tend to think they'd just swage down to size but maybe not.

Sounds like it may not take a lot of convincing to get dgeesaman to give it a try though.

The .17 and .20 'squeeze-bore' rimfire rifles swage down a 40gr .22LR bullet quite nicely, although the taper is quite gentle (very long chamber reamer) and the rim area isn't the larger WMR size.

IIRC there was a decent thread somewhere in RFC, but have lost track of it.
