LCP II 22 LR Ammo Results Today

Took the LiteRack to the range today with some untested yet ammo in it. Well I brought Federal Auto Match and Federal Game Shock to try out in it. While the Auto Match was accurate it failed to eject the rounds from the chamber every time. I had just replaced a broken firing pin and spring in it recently so the first thing in my head was “oh boy what is it now a broken extractor?”. I was going to pack it up but then thought might as well give a couple of rounds of Game Shock a go and low and behold function and accuracy could not be any better. Fact is it performed like the Philharmonic Orchestra. I’ve had good luck with this round always but it just never seems to be as available in my area as others. By the way the Auto Match ran flawlessly in a Ruger MKIII I also brought along.

My LCP-II runs most 40 grain ammo well. CCI Mini-Mag runs really good, Browning not so good, lots of FTF or light indents.

Only ammo mine is consistant with is CCI Standard. All others are plagued with FTF.

I have done some pretty extensive testing with mine, at least with the ammo I have...

Winchester Super X White Box 222, 333, 555 bulk pack runs like garbage in it - failure to extract, lots of duds (or at least won't fire even spinning it and putting it back in)

Winchester Super X Super speed 40 grain plated round nose 100% reliable

CCI mini mag 100% reliable

Federal 36 Grain jacketed Hollowpoint 100% reliable

Armscor 36 grain (?) jacketed hollowpoint 100% reliable

Remington Yellow Jacket very reliable, one dud in 50 or so rounds

Aguila Super Extra 40 grain plated round nose 100% reliable

Blazer lead 40 grain round nose mostly reliable. had a couple duds in about 80 rounds tested - dirty ammo.

This gun is not made for shorts, but I had to try- Remington golden bullet HV SHORTS 100% fire, none extract and none load from mag well -

I did not try any standard velocity as the manual says use High velocity - I imagine the OP may have issues with auto match because it is only like 1050 FPS, and I have had better luck with over 1200 fps

Federal auto match works well for some people I guess. It is just typical low quality bulk high velocity ammo they put match in the name as a marketing gimmick nothing match about it.
My LCPII has been very reliable with everything I shoot in it.
I have perhaps about 1000 rounds through it and it has had no more than 5 malfunctions in that time. Lots of standard velocity too.
I don’t generally buy bulk ammo, but the shortages bring what they are i relented on that policy and used some bulk pack aguila and federal blue box bulk and it ran those just fine too

I just picked one up and tested it with 4 mags each of 3 different rounds. Win Super X 40 grain 100%. Win M22 45 grain subsonic 100%. Aguila 38 grain HP 2 failures to feed on 2nd round in 2 mags. Fired round ejected but slide did not come back far enough to pick up the round or reset the trigger. I ran 4 mags and those were the only malfunctions.
