Blasted 40 240gr 44 special at the animal targets today. Getting loose for the last silo shoot of the year at the club. The neighbors pay no mind when I shoot rimfire, but sometimes I get the impression they don't take to the centerfire stuff. So I only shoot it on weekdays when there is fewer of them around.

I'm not sure whats going to come of the shoots. Bud, the guy who ran them passed on about a month ago at the age of 88. He finally got to where he couldn't hold up a handgun any more but wouldn't give up and kept coming with a trunkload of score keeping supplies and paint for the targets. Keeping score, and figuring out the prize money. I've heard talk at the range of a few guys wanting to take it over, and none of the names I heard ever attended any of the shoots. So I guess we will have to have a talk on Sunday to get that straightened out.

Sunny, no wind, 76, getting ready to cool for the eve.

I would say no for several reasons:
Probably not on a climb
loss of stability/strength not being on the bars
He could just go to the drops to get a better profile

For a second it looked like he was cleaning his tire, but that is done a bit differently on the rear.

He is shifting gears. Old derailleurs were lever operated. You can see the lever on the front derailleur

Bartali was credited with pioneering the use of derailleurs. Makes sense since he was quite the mountain goat.

Just read a couple of write ups on this shooting, RIP Brother, just sad that a young Family has to face this. Prayers for them and everyone affected.

Great news about Kent, Brent.

Another 2 weeks and Florida bound. Need a break.

Last rain here was August 28 with .58 inches, and only spotty showers in the WW forecast for the next 10 days. Since then it has been in the 90s, officially (weve had 2 days @100+), until yesterday.

Mowed yesterday and W&F today. Will get pre-emerge on tomorrow to stop the fall and winter weeds.

Sorry Splatz. Recon some old lady with a Volvo stole it?

Good report Brent on Kent.

Sophia, white gravy. How do you do hot donuts with ice cream inside?

Robs, yes you need your flu shot. I get two. Ins./Medicare/State Health Plan gets the first one [me free]. Got it last week. In February, VA gets the second one [me free]. Works great. Two is recommended by knowledgeable Dr.'s. Ins. doesn't like to do two so you normally get one. "Wears off."

Spent two and one half hours listening to a certain political party trying to get me to accept a wright in campaign for Mayor [again]. Guaranteed to furnish all expenses, staff, poll workers and etc. All I had to do is say I will accept. Said word shows I would easily bet the guy running. I said, "No." Even had a pretty young lady party official doing the talking.

Now some R&R.

Before I changed it that thread was titled Just Read This. That puts it right up there with the thread titled Remington that was posted in the Remington forum or the thread titled 22lr in the 22 ammo forum as most useless title of the week.

More along the lines of the new approach to writing headlines. Back in the olde days, you know -- about three years ago -- headlines were meant to encapsulate the gist of the story. The idea was to give the reader enough info to know what the story was with the following text filling in the details should the reader be interested. Then along came the idea of click-bait.

Nowadays headlines are meant to pique the reader's curiosity, causing him to click into the story. That generates revenue for the site.

In the olde days the headline might read "Aerobic Exercise is Proven to Help Prevent Memory Loss." The article that followed would have the details of the study, etc. Nowadays the headline reads "This One Exercise Can Improve Your Memory."

"This One Resort is Rated Top by All Travel Sites" vs "Bahamas is Still the Most Popular Vacation Site."

Etc.

Or, on RFC it might be "Quick Question" or "Is This Common" or "Does Anybody Else...." with nothing in that blank or, we can't overlook, "Just Read This." I'm guessing the intent is to increase the number of people who will actually view the post instead of those who would skip by something like "Question about 22/45 triggers" or "Main Spring Broke -- Common Problem?" or "Does Anybody Else Shoot Stingers in Their Anschutz" or "Colt to Stop Making Rifles for the Civilian Market."

Don't get me started on the new breed of trolls.
