Scores from our Wednesday evening air rifle practice. Winds were up a bit and kept everyone on their toes.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettable, yards
Date: 9-2-20

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz Super Air 2002
Sightron @ 24X
JSB Diablo Exact (7.33) pellets

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 24

Target rifle and 15 MPH winds just do not go together well.

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200
Leupold M8 24X
JSB Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 31

While warming up for this match I heard what sounded like the TX200 spring breaking but it kept shooting ok. I broke it down yesterday and sure enough the last coil had broken off. I'm kind of amazed I got the score I did with a broken spring.

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms HFT-500
Weaver T-24
Air Arms Diablo Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 33

Winds had pretty much laid down by the time we got to this match.

Our official club match is this Sunday so I'll have scores that afternoon.

Monthly club air rifle match. I was shepherding my coworker/friend again through his first air rifle match so I blame all my misses on that.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettable, yards
Date: 9-6-20

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz Super Air 2002
Sightron @ 24X
JSB Diablo Exact (7.33) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 29

Winds were in the 5-10 MPH range so very happy to get this score.

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200
Leupold M8 24X
JSB Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 9
TOTAL - 29

Not happy about only 6 Pigs. Both shots at the #4 Pig went between the legs.
Still, a 29 is a Master score so I'll take it.

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms HFT-500
Weaver T-24
Air Arms Diablo Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 10
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 30

Started on Rams and all but one miss was under the belly. Same with Chickens, all four misses were low. Finally compensated up a half-minute and made up some ground on Pigs and had a great finish to the match on Turkeys! My friend and I both went for long-runs on Turkeys and I got three more for 13 in a row.

I had messed with the power adjustment on my HFT-500 a few days ago to get the velocity up a bit (from ~765 to ~830). I need to run it over the chrono again to see what the power curve is doing as this is an unregulated gun. I have a suspicion that all the low shots on the first two animals may be due to me raising the power up too much and exaggerating the power curve (lower starting velocity to a higher peak).

Wednesday afternoon/evening smallbore practice before our monthly match this Saturday. Cloudy and a bit rainy but very little wind issues.

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~30X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 9-9-20
Class: AAA/AAA

Round #1, Standard Rifle
Chickens - 9
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29

Started on Rams and did well until the Turkeys. Still ok with a 29 which is over my average (about a 28).

Round #2, Hunter Rifle
Chickens - 6
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 32 (Master score!)

Started on Turkeys, didn't get any favors from the Chickens, but cleaned the Pigs to get my third Master score in Hunter! Now I have to shoot against the other Master class shooters...

Monthly club match. A little wind but nothing too bad.

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~25X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 9-12-20
Class: AAA/Master

Round #1, Standard Rifle
Chickens - 7
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 27

Not real happy about missing so many Pigs. Could have used another Chicken or two as well.

Round #2, Hunter Rifle
Chickens - 7
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 30

A little better, a little happier about getting in the 30's again. Kind of was hoping for some slightly better scores considering my 29 and 32 from earlier in the week.

Having problems again with my TX200 on the Pigs and Rams. Gotta shake that off.
