oh no. not selling the suhl. i feel a 4 groove ratchet barrel is going on it this winter. i've done contacted shilen about a barrel the is .870 that my smith will be installing for me. i want it the same diameter and as close to the same length as the factory barrel. i had a dream about slugging the factory barrel last night, cutting it and then recrowning it. it was just a dream. i'm ganna just have the shilen ratchet barrel put on it.

is this the same gun you were shooting unofficial world record targets with a year ago?
i wouldn't touch that barrel. if you take it off send it to me i'll trade you a tomater stake for it.
i can't believe you've worn that barrel out. remember these?

more bottle cap scoring guage pictures the target used is a blank which is turned backwards, the plug goes in, in the same direction as the bullet.
target and guage

target in holder

target in holder and turned to put on scoring guage plug

target in holder placed on guage plug

brass weight used to push and hold target and cup down onto
plug (these things are tight)

ready to score guage zeroed

starting to measure turn completely around dial indicator measures on
outside on target holder cup highest reading is your score

turning

final score is .0085

Tom, Somerset, Blairsville, and Laughlintown all use measuring devices with dial type indicators that digital one would make it easy!!!! Was that from a club down your way?? That little machine tells you what kind of gun you have it will drive you KRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John

Thumbs up

First heard of this 10+ years ago, from a group in PA. Nice to see they're "still doing it." Definitely a tough game.

alot of people in sw and middle pa. shoot these matchs, i don't know about
other places but here there's alot of people that have nice bench guns that
don't shoot in regular matchs but shoot in these matchs. most use the bipod
setup like the last picture on post 8 shows. no front rest needed.
i've heard of distances anywhere from 60 ft. to 25 yds, i've heard of matchs
up to 4 nights a week within easy driving distance from uniontown. what i
don't like is trying to drive through snowstorms in the middle of winter to
get home late afterwards. these seem to be done mostly in the winter.
i ran into some other pictures i took last year of an indoor shooting place.
i'll try to post them once i clean them up a little, they're kind of blurry.

a picture i took last year didn't turn out very well but maybe good enough to
see the way the bipod fits on the little steps for different heigth adjustments.
this is an indoor range by belle vernon pa.

you shoot through the little porthole, makes it easier to heat in the winter, the
target area is blocked off from the shooters area. they turn the furnace off while
they're shooting, gets kinda cold down by the targets. great to able to shoot in
the winter though. someone told me that this was built as an indoor range.
i thought it had been a bowling alley that had been converted over though.
it's built onto the back of a bar right in the middle of town. i think it's 20-25 yds.

I know this is a VERY old post just wondering if the matches are still being shot. The "Bi=Pod" had the Nickname of "Pony" when we shot those matches in the 80's in Va

A lot of the old time matches seem so much more interesting, sure like the sound of this!

Bottle Cap Match

I'm also interested in buying bottle caps and some information on how to perfectly stamp the target in the center. Thank you all.
