1st bottle cap match last night

25 yds 15 shots closest to center wins each relay.
we shot outdoors. out of 7 shooters 15 relays, i
came in 1st once 3rd once, and didn't place the other
13. interesting game. 1 .000 shot by an older guy
(70 something) shooting a custom suhl. a lot different
than anything i've tried before, gun has to shoot to same
poi cold. 10 minutes between shots. the older fellow came in
2nd overall. i'll get pictures next week. this has a big following
around here, i think partly because you don't use much ammo.

i guess this came from people shooting at paper bottle caps, a long
time ago if you lived in town the milkman would put a couple of bottles
of fresh milk in your milk box usually on your back porch the bottles
had a cardboard cap about an inch wide with a foil cap on top to hold
it on the neck of the milk bottle. they use the cardboard part and stamp
an O perfectly in the middle. you number 1-15 and put your initials on it.
a perfect shot would be a .000 that would just barely fit perfectly inside
the O. they have a scoring guage you put the cap down on a plug, the
guage has a digital micrometer that measures how far off center your hole
is compared to the outside edge. the smallest amount of runout wins, they
pay 3 bucks for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. i'll take pictures of the whole deal
and post here, plus they take side bets on who will get the first .000, and
other bets. it's unlimited i guess you can shoot any .22 rifle off bench,
you can use regular bench setup but alot of people shoot a rigid bipod with
a rear bag. they call the bipods ponies.
derek i was shooting my ural without a tuner, never again it would throw the
first shot cold high and right, we were shooting 3 targets a relay so my 2nd
and 3rd shots would come into the circle. i started after the first three holding
at about 7 oclock for the first one. they charge 17 a match, they had 7 shooters the club made 29 bucks, the guys said there are about 4 matchs
a week fairly close. most are shot indoors. we're going to try to do this once
a week. the guy with the suhl placed in the top three every relay but 2.

I never did shoot one of those matches, about 40 tears ago they were doing that in Blairsville Pa. I was in mechanic school and did not have a rifle. They also shot offhand matches.

some pics hope this helps

targets some blanks and some shot. these aren't very good.

scoring guage you put the target in the holder on the right
set down on the plug put top weight on then turn and read
how much runout you have. lowest wins.

targets boards at 25 yds. with 3 targets for each shooter.

rifles ready to go, nearest one a swindlehurst, then a suhl, then an anshutz, a couple of 52s and 40x's and a hall i think.

my 40x waiting to show how ill prepared i was.

a 52 next to my bench.

That was my first thought too! He ain't bad at 50 yards IR50/50 either.

Where is that range? Looks like a lot of benches. They have sanctioned matches there?

much of in this gun should have known better. heck i hate to make excuses
but i'm still tired from the trip to minnesota and back it's great to sleep at
home in my own bed. i'm about caught up now. slept 10 hrs last night. i really
need to practice more but i keep running out of spare time. maybe next week.

Too many 50/50 matches this weekend. My club SOTY match is Saturday and the WV state match (hog Shoot) is at Leetown for the weekend.
