Question SW 22s valuation?

Log in to see fewer ads
I found a 22s that looks really nice to my eye. The seller is local to me too. Complete with case, manual, two magazines.
Question:
Which of the three barrel lengths are the most desirable? Is one more common than the others? I think that I would like to have the longest since I have a Ruger mk2 Target in 6-7/8”
Also, are they worth a squirt of piss? I’ve read reports of a recall for the 22a with the aluminum barrels? cracking on some
What would a nice S model be worth in pretty nice, complete Condition?

I am not sure that I am fully informed with any of the above information, so asking for help from those with more knowledge than I.
Thank you.

Smith & wesson told me that they don't have the nylon bumpers anymore and they won't have them . Bumpers dont last to long.

What is the asking price?

Check out gunbroker to get an idea of prices. Brownell's have the recoil buffers along with some other parts. They are also available on ebay and a few other places.

375$ is the asking price.

Does it need the recoil bumpers in order to shoot, or just to shoot for very long?

Okay did some more research. I see the recoil spacer that is at the rear of the slide.
I will be seeing the 22s in person tomorrow. When I asked the seller if it still had the spare spacers (that I read we’re included from new), I was told that it has low round count... so I am assuming that the original recoil spacer is still installed. I will lock the slide and turn upside down and see if it is visible for an inspection that way.
There is a chance that the extra spacers are still in the envelope under the case foam.

Considering that the spacer is actually a buffer I wouldn't shoot mine without the spacer. Disassemble the gun (easy to do, almost as easy as Ruge rMK IV) and look at the one in it to see how beat up it is. Mine is showing some wear and tear but has a way to go before replacement. I wouldn't want the bolt hitting metal at all.

Okay picked it up. I stripped it and cleaned it up. I could tell that it hadn’t been cleaned since it was last fired. Although I tried to follow the directions to a T when disassembling, when I lifted the slide the recoil spring and rod shot across the room to parts unseen for a while. I mounted a search party and found the rod and spring after rearranging the front room.
Disassembled the magazines for fun, One magazine spring was put in backwards, Fixed, no big deal.
The recoil spacer has wear but will survive for some more rounds. There wasn’t any envelope with spares underneath either case foam.
I will order a handful of recoil spacers and a couple recoil springs today.
I couldn’t find any wear except for the slightest of marks on the Rear left side of the optics rail where an optic must have once been installed.
Traded 1150 rounds of 9mm plus 50$.

Very nice looking 22S.

I put an inexpensive Tasco red dot on mine. Makes it a lot of fun to shoot.

Nice looking gun. By the way Brownell's has some nice wood grips for it at the best price I've found.

Thanks Gents. I am considering the wood target grips from Brownells. Probably order them this week.
I don’t see any of these on Gunbroker and I do not have an account in order to look at past sales to see if any stainless 7” have been sold. With that said, what do you guys estimate the value of this one?

One sold today, SS and wood grips for $355 plus shipping and transfer fee. Another sold a couple weeks ago for $375 plus shipping and transfer with rubber grip. They sold precovid for $220-300 depending on bitone vs ss, grip and condition plus ship and fee. Being complete with box for you to inspect in person is worth something too.
