Octanejunkie,

What types of ammo have you tried with your conversion bolt and 1-12 barrel?

38gr and up is recommended for 1:12, copper wash RN as per CMMG. Both HV and SV by various vendors.

Targets looked like I was patterning a shotgun load

The reason I asked was because I had to use the conversion kits while in the Army and the M16A1 with 1-12 twist shot better than the M16A2 with 1-7 twist even with what ever cheap ammo the Army used. I wonder if your barrel is on the larger side or it just might not like 22 rimfire ammo.

Worked great in my Colt /Kaiser Nam Era Upper with original SAK 1/12 Twist Barrel and several Colt /Harvey uppers with Colt 1/12 barrels . You must not use a Notched Hammer with CMMG Conversions .

It was so bad I spent bank making an exact copy, dedicated 22LR upper from a RTB 20" govt profile barrel that I had reprofiled to pencil. I bought a barrel collar and my CMMG conversion kit became a dedicated bolt group.

I tried it with 3 different triggers including an ALG, LaRue and milspec.

I have LaRue triggers in both my other PSA and CMMG dedicated AR-22s, never an issue.
