So,I have this hardwood stock just collecting dust now. I'm wondering if anyone has ever added a pistol grip to one? I'll include a photo of what im going on about for reference.

Arrow Recoil Pad

Where did you get the slip on recoil pad?
Do you know if it will fit a 1022 takedown with a synthetic stock?
I'm looking to make my 1022 a little bit longer.

Thanks
Bob

not that I've seen, or at least remember seeing...but then again, I don't really look for that type of stuff

but Hipshot did all kinds of wonderful things starting off with a cheap factory birch stock and some bondo...maybe bolt an AR grip on and a little bondo and paint

off topic: it must be a real pain to take that SKS down, with that pistol grip in the way...or does it have a hole to allow access to the latch

Guys
The SKS is not mine. I found the photo on the net. I figured it would be more well know vs say a BM59. So I can't comment on a lot of your questions.
Thanks for the links. However with many of sawdust photos being on photo bucket they are gone.

Sorry for the hijack, but I got an easy answer for Bob's question.

It took me a few sizes to figure out which slip-on worked best, but I cracked the code. Mostly because I wanted to pull off the factory buttplate and use the hollowed out stock for storage (this was before the MagPul Backpacker came out).

The Pachmayr Decelerator in a size 3 fits pretty good. Because of the crescent shape of the Ruger butt, you'll have to cut out some of the rubber grid inside of the buttpad for a good fit. Here are a couple of photos to help explain what I did.

Nice! Reminds me of the McMillan stocks on the old M14 DMRs.

I cut down a factory stock and added a pistol grip for my 10/22 like pistol. I added a pistol brace but it could easily have a stock.

With the pig nose adapter for a buffer tube

Added a folding adapter...

Eventually I painted it and added a longer barrel. You could use this on a rifle as well.

Below is a stock I cut down when my daughter was little. I made it into straight stock. I still have it and often thought of adding a pistol grip to it. It would be pretty easy to do.

It's your stock to do what you please, but you built a nice little youth stock there. It would be a shame to see it chopped into another project.
Maybe sell/trade it to someone looking for a youth/compact stock and use the proceeds for a generic take-off stock.

While I've thought about putting a pistol grip on it I will probably just keep it for the grandkids.
