What's Wrong Winchester

I won't buy winchester ammo anymore. had a few 22lr rounds blow the rims off in my guns. Never happens with cci. Having this happen is not a fun thing to experience.
In my centerfire rifles winchester groups 2-3x larger than any other ammo.

As for as a a cheaper round the winchester wildcat 22lr 40 grain.,is as good as it gets i have quite a few 22 rifles & hand guns that love them, not one misfire on over 10,000 rounds so far. With all this hard to come by ammo going on its all i have been using lately. Using my cz 452 you wolud never know it WAS only $1.70 per 50 last year. I will buy all you have at $2.70 per 50 if you have some you would like to get rid of

The first 500 rounds through my Colt M4-22 were Winchester Wildcats and I don't remember having many (or any) problems with them.

I've never tried the 555 boxes from Walmart.

I did shoot about 70 rounds of the M-22 today, had only one failure that I could blame on the ammo, it took 3 strikes (took round out and reinserted) to ignite the primer (pretty sure it wasn't a light strike). Other then that it was perfect and shot pretty good.

I've the only rifle that shoots all ammo well except Ferderal of any type.Winchester standard and or all high vel. shoot really good.

If you own more than one rimfire rifle, you likely know that each will shoot better with some ammo than with others. If you own a couple rimfire autos, some ammo is more reliable in gun A than gun B, handguns being particularly prone to finding differences.

I'm lucky enough to own three very good rifles, and the same number of handguns, my daughter has a rifle and a handgun in .22LR. Each has a preference for accuracy and reliability. The entire collection shoots Federal ammo well enough to buy it by the case, and I do. Winchester Super X is a winner, CCI Standard velocity and Minimag shoots in every single RF in the house. Remington ammo, sorted by rim size shoots OK, but it needs to be sorted. If you haven't tried any, the stuff from Fiocchi, and Aguila is actually quite good. The expensive target stuff, guess what, shoots really good.

Bulk ammo is not as good as the carton ammo for any brand. Not for reliability, accuracy, or FTF. That's why it's cheap. As bulk ammo goes, Federal Auto Match can best some of the better non-bulk ammo, and so can the CCI stuff.

I think I paid 25-27 for the 555s a few weeks ago.

I have 22 different rimfire guns and Winchester ammo is great in every way. No problems at all and accuracy is at least as good as any non-match ammo I've ever used. I love the M22.

I've never had a beef with Super X, granted its not match ammo but off hand you have to be pretty good to notice a difference.

I always wondered why T-22 never seemed to be as good as other brands of standard velocity. I have had good experience with Power Points for years. Just started shooting some 555 hp stuff so no opinion yet. Fine so far. I have always thought the higher-end Winchester .22 lr and .22 wmr hunting ammo had a fairly good reputation.
One positive note: I have a little Savage cub that does not extract well. For some reason, winchester ammo seems to work much better than cci or others I tried. I used both T22 and power points in that one .

333/555 work fine for me when i can find them. right now can't even find rem gold around here.

The Australian manufactured Winchester products are all excellent.
We have a choice for hunting with HV of a 40gn power point at 1280 fps or a 42 gn at 1320fps.
'Lasers' run a 37gn hollow point at 1380fps.
In SV we have 40 gn and 42 power points at 1065.

All five are of superb quality and easily shoot sub MOA in my CZ rifles.

However, admittedly, there is no locally made target ammo from Winchester whatsoever.. And I better not mention comparison on prices!

I 'd love to get my hands on some M22's. My neighbor has been using it on his semi auto and an old bolt action Savage, and says it cycles great and is accurate. He only uses Winchester ammo and refuses to buy anything else. I was like that up until recently, but now I bought an assortment of ammo due to the shortage. He only had a box and a half of M22 left so I didn't want to ask him for any. Besides, he needs it more than I do. I suggested a trade but he wouldn't have it.
