Platinum sells for $39 for how much?? a pin head??
Price a platinum ring at a jewelry store, it is the same stuff.

It is WAY more expensive than gold, per ounce,,

One of the other metals in a CAT converter costs $25,000 per ounce,,
YES,, $25,000

The prices are WAY up because mining is not happening due to COVID,, supposedly,,

(Hmmmmm,, I was wrong,, platinum is only $1241 per ounce,, I looked it up. Gold is $1,854 per ounce)

Allow me Sweetmk, I speak Infidelese

$39 per gram x 28.34 grams per ounce = $1105.26 per ounce for platinum.

Slightly cheaper than your spot market price but one assumes manufacturers get a little better deal for volume.

The 3rd PGM in catylitic converters is Rhodium - spot market today of $28,700 per oz.

Depending on emissions requirements, efficiency of the combustion process and size of the engine (displacement, turbo of super charged). There may be anywhere from $150 to $1000 worth of these metals in every vehicle

Given that this thread now has more than 2800 posts, this may have come up before, but...

There are so many different kinds of apples in the world, that if you ate a different one every day, it would take more than 20 years to try them all. It would take the sprit de corps, perhaps?
