Cugir single shot help...

Log in to see fewer ads
Hello,

Do we have any experts on the Cugir single shot?

I picked one up, the bolt was funky so I removed and unscrewed it, cleaned the dried cosmo/ grease out, and re-lubed + reassembled.

The trigger was rattle-ey but once the slack was out, would break (obviously I don't dry fire it more than a few times).

I took it to the range and the trigger pull became... variable... then would not break at all.

I put it away, and when I got home I could not get the bolt off. Eventually, I pulled HARD enough on the trigger to drop the sear enough to get it off.

I unscrewed everything on the bottom, including the swivel, but I can't wiggle the rifle out of the stock, I believe because the sear is still sitting too high.

Any ideas?

Not a Cugir expert (have dealt with a lot of Mausers, etc. on which the Cugir was based), but I can't see how the sear would be interfering with removal of the stock.
One method of releasing barreled actions from stocks that has worked for me and others is to hold the end of the barrel and with a wooden or plastic hammer tap repeatedly on the barrel and receiver. This usually results in the stock eventually separating from the metal, as long as there is no screw, etc. still holding things together. Warming things up with a hair dryer beforehand can't hurt either.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot!

Are there any schematics for the Cugir or the Geco out there?
