Zukiphile, You did good regardless, for the distance.
BTW, I've got one of those plastic rotary-knob style 10/22 magazine loaders, which works fairly good, but not perfectly.

I didn't buy the RRA AR-22 for paper punching tiny groups, I have more accurate bolt actions for that primary purpose, but the quality and precision of the RRA rifle makes it possible when, or if, I might want to shoot it at paper. That's a very nice feature to have (real accuracy in an AR-22), and imo, a great reason in justifying it's higher cost.

Although it's often said bolt action rifles are more accurate than semi-autos, that doesn't mean all semi-autos are inaccurate, AR-platform, or otherwise. In my experience, a good trigger along with thick/heavy barrels (with good ammo) help a lot towards accuracy (such as the 20" HBAR on the NM LAR-22). A lot of other factors do come into play, but accuracy is not an impossibility, especially when you're starting off with something real good to begin with in the NM LAR-22. Having an AR-22 doesn't mean one has to "settle" for an inaccurate rile, so why not have both (quality & accuracy) when you're in the market "for the best"?

I do not care if he wants to spend 5000.00 on an AR22.Heck I will even sell him one for 5000.00 if ithe price would make someone feel it is 4500.00 better than the next guys 450.00 AR22.I just know to me, that would be a bad investment to do so..Others may disagree..

I also like making my ARs like I want em..Not how someone else thinks they should be configured..Best to build it yourself as it suits your needs . Not how someone else perceives your needs.
Yours wasn't the comment that caused me to raise an eyebrow. It was Cleatis' comment in response to LoneWolf where he said he didn't see the point in spending that kind of money on a rimfire AR. I get it it! It is his opinion but between yours and his comments about the cost I felt, compelled to side with Szumi and his desire to purchase the RRA NM version. It's $685 for an upper and a little over $200 for the NM sights he wants. I'm sure we can all agree that $200 for sights or a scope is probably pretty reasonable. But for a complete upper of known RRA quality and better than average accuracy, I don't think that's too much at all.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the best of something. I think we can be funny the way we focus on accuracy and quality. We includes me.

Before I built my first AR in 22lr, I read a fair bit about barrel rigidity and surface hardening, as well as how hard reliable function can be to get (which later turned out to be completely untrue for me). I landed on a 16.1 inch heavy taper profile as the most rigid shape. Then I spent a number of trips on a bench at the 100 yard range figuring out which ammunition gave the best groups as well as how many rounds I could go before accuracy declined or a carbon ring appeared. (300 and 800 respectively.) Aguila Subsonic got me under 1.5moa, but it was eight cents per round, whereas SV was only five cents per rounds and stayed under 2moa. I tied this with my trusted 2.5x scopes as well as the higher magnifications that I almost never use.

Time to put all this to use, so I headed to the 25 yard line to shoot from the standing position in the Off Hand matches down the page in this forum.

The seven ring on the A25 target is almost four inches across, 16moa. The eight ring is almost three inches, 12moa. I don't think I've ever shot a whole five target card and kept all 50 shots within that 12moa, the elusive "no eights" goal.

So I focused on a 2moa rifle, but I'm a 12moa person on my best days.*

__________
*Standing is a horror show, but if you shoot sitting or prone, rifle accuracy does make a big difference.

Sorry for hijacking the OP's thread. I just ordered the RRA upper and accessories. I've been wanting a .22LR upper for a very long time.

Szumi, except for a possible long wait for it to be delivered, I think you'll be very pleased with it. If you go to Nordic Components, you can D/L their 22RB (upper) Owners Manual since RRA still doesn't have one of their own (for their AR-22's).

Thanks for the tip on the manual. I snagged one. Is Nordic who is really making it?

LW, did you get the issues about the appearance of your chamber and the back-ordered magazines and bolt catch resolved?

Szumi, (you're welcome) the answer to your question, for now, is complicated. From the limited information I have, Nordic Components (NC) does make the bolt assembly, this was told to me by a RRA employee last year, and confirmed by NC days ago. I was told by this same NC employee, that RRA had previously sent them "some equipment", which I took to be machinery of some kind, but the employee wasn't specific as to exactly what equipment, or what it was for (I'm guessing for barrels, but can't say for sure). I did ask him about the barrel situation (what blanks are being used in the RRA uppers, + the whole rifles, and who machines - finishes them) but he didn't know and would try to find out (this employee is working remotely from home due to the pandemic). This was all just a few days ago, so I'm waiting to hear back. Guessing, I think RRA makes the lowers, or gets them or parts of them, from other sources.

Zukiphile, what you wanted to know about, the chamber (& bolt-catch), are questions I never heard back from RRA about, and was "waiting" to ask the NC employee (about the chamber - only, because I forgot to ask him when we spoke days ago). I ordered a total of 6-each, 25-round magazines, and ordered 5-each, of the 10-round magazines (the rifle came with one). I think some came before, or with the rifle (?), the others were delivered not long after getting the rifle (roughly 3 - 4 weeks later?), all of which I painted flat black.

What I said was I don't see the point in spending more than I did, but I never said anything about you spending your money as you see fit. Apologies if it came across wrong.
