I tried some Eley club today. Wow! It's clearly more accurate shooting than any .22 LR ammo I've used before. I'll never be satisfied with the cheap stuff again.

Not snobs Al. They think their poop doesnít stink. And we all know that ours does weíre aficionados I think that means we like the smell of our own poop

It is flumexing for a spend thrift like me to spend 12, to 20 cents a round , but it has to be done. I assuage my pain by buying 8 cent a round bricks, and 5 cent around cases of CCI SV. And a box or 2 of the good stuff.

I start off with the cheap stuff in the hopes that just by being in the bag with the better stuff it has improved thru osmosis. I quickly move on to the mid priced stuff , and then treat myself to a a few mags of the expensive stuff. Then I go back to the cheap stuff, which shoots better after some of that greasy stuff has been thru the gun.

Thatís another thing I like about hmr or WMR, itís all ok all about the same price and I donít ever think , well I could have shot better if I had spent a few cents more!

I donít know why Iím so parsimonious about 22 ammo, every thing else I shoot buy the bucketful costs more per round than high grade 22.

I guess Iím just stupid

I have had pretty good luck with club over the years. I really need to order another brick or 2 actually.

I love to punch paper targets at my farm. I used to get jazzed up by the price of 22lr ammo. Then, I realized the best price I get on my .204 Hornady ammo is about $.60 a round and now I don’t think twice about it! I just relax and enjoy.

I've spent the last three years trying to find good 22 ammo for lever action silhouette matches. Didn't want it spend over 10 cents/round and went through 1000's of rounds of marginal ammo. I bought a brick of Eley Force that shot lights out. Then I found cases of it for 6 cents/round that also shoots well. Needless to say. I'm sitting on 25,000 rounds of it and selling off all my other ammo.

Do you know the difference between eley and Remington?

Eley went to finishing school where Remington dropped out.

Yeah, shooting some middle grade target ammo will do that. Try some Tenes, or Lapua Midas+ or Center X and you might get really snobbish.

I will love shooting CCI SV, SK Magazine, and Wolf MT. But every now and then, with one of my better rifles, I'll pull out the really expensive stuff and then I have only myself to blame for any flier.

It depends on what you are doing. Today I was practicing my draw at the plate rack. RGB is good enough for that.

I've had good luck with Eley Club. Center-X is a bit better and a bit more. That is as pricey as I've gone.

For my silhouette shooting I was shooting Club but my scores are not that great so I went back to shooting CCI Std. When I get better I'll shoot better stuff.

Match the ammo to the application.

I have also noticed cheap ammo shooting better following expensive ammo down the barrel. So what is the lube used on the high dollar ammo ? If I dip my cheap ammo in it will it shoot better ? Anybody ever experiment with this ?

I think they pack a little extra magic in the high end ammo.

You all don't need to spend a lot of money the cheap stuff is good too. Just do what I do, I find a box of the "elite superior" ammo and fill it up with bulk ammo. Than I shoot at a blank piece of paper. After I'm done shooting I draw the bulls eye where the bullet holes are.
