Hey, Steel, The Caldwell/Protector system seems to be working OK for you. Are you still shooting with your shoulder on the buttpad? If so, try a target with your shoulder backed off of the stock and see if you get less wobble/better score.

Nice target Dan. Better than I've done so far this month.

Thanks guys. I just can't figure it out. That target was my best score out of my four targets but my worst X count. I shot two 243 9X targets one with the tackdriver bag and one with the Rock BR.
Squirrelbark I have tried from no pressure on the butpad to heavy pressure on practice targets and the jury is still out. The target I posted I used moderate pressure. I'm still experimenting.

Well, I tried. That's about all I can say for myself. Total was a 215. I tried the "pinch" method throughout the whole target. Started off great then went downhill after the last 1/2 of the target. Yall said a good shooter will know what he did, I suck because I had no clue why that bullet went the way it did. I was shooting Eley pistol match. My action is torqued to 22lbs. Maybe that's something to adjust?

Keep shooting, it will get better. Sounds like a setup issue. First rows go great then due to a change in angle the rifle behaves slightly different on last rows. This is what tends to happen to me

Can I use that excuse Taterchip? I started a target with 5 10s. Dropped to the second row and shot 2 identical 8s at 7 o'clock. Adjusted the scope a couple of clicks and was back to shooting 10s with an occasional close 9 until I got to the last row which consisted of 4 9s, low, left. I won't even report the score as it didn't even break 240. If that excuse doesn't work for me I guess I"ll just have to say I am going blind except when uncontrollable twitch kicks in. That's 2 in the trash for my American so I am really at a loss.

You... are just trying too hard. You shot a clean row. If you shot one you can shoot 4 more. I did shoot a target last month. I forgot to post it. It was just ok not great. Some body once told me if you look to long you look wrong. Shoot these targets at 50 yards and then shoot for score at 25 yards. Of course at 50 ( if I have this right ) you would need an 18 x scope to give you the same view as a 9x at 25. And the wind does matter. If you have not embraced that yet you might want to warm up to the idea.

lastombstone: If you shot 5 10's on the first row, then messed up the 2nd row, why would you need to adjust your scope a couple of clicks? You just needed to throw that target away and start a fresh clean one Shoot 3 shot groups and adjust the scope until you are shooting 10's and the groups are centered over the bullseye--Then shoot the whole GM without touching those knobs.

But Tater is exactly right--you are just trying too hard. You probably need to kill a raccoon to get your head in the right place. That always works for me.

If I could find a coon i would probably take a crack at him. LOL. Those rascals come out too late around here for me. I really have no idea what happened. No pressure for sure cause my buddy was shooting his new to him 452 American and didn't do what he expected so I just knew I was going to blow him out of the water. But the more I shot, the worse it got. I've got 3 targets left on both the Silouette and the 455T so maybe I can get my confidence back with one of them and then go back to the American. Got a couple of decent days coming up before it goes back to 90+.

Oh, well no wonder! Now it all makes sense; I can't shoot in front of other people either. I do great killing critters but competing with other folks watching me makes me nervous. Same thing with guitar. I play beautifully by myself, but I cannot play in front of other people because I get nervous and my hands shake so hard that it destroys whatever I'm trying to play. It is really difficult being the sensitive hidden genius that I am.

Welcome aboard Old Sarg. I felt the same way last year when I started this madness. Now I have 3 rifles just for this game. I would say I have improved but as you can see from the above conversation, lately they haven't been worth posting. The good thing is there is a lot of encouragement here and lots of good information and pointers. Seems they just love watching us new folks spend money. LOL.
