Need Some Help - CZ 455

Log in to see fewer ads
I know very little about the CZ lineup other than what I've read here about the 452, 455, and 457. There is very little here about the 455 and my search skills seem to be lacking.

I've been interested in getting a CZ and happened on a CZ 455 in a LGS (about 60 miles away). It has the stock that curves downward at the top rear and had an inexpensive Simmons scope on it but that's all I remember. Wish I had taken pictures. Seems like it did not have a long barrel.

It was priced at $349 and seems to be in good shape. I know this is not a lot of information but would you recommend taking a second look?

What am I looking for to identify what model it is, and are some models more preferable than others?

Thanks for your help!

I'd be willing to bet - you were looking at a CZ 455 Trainer or potentially a Lux model. Here is a link to the discontinued 455 Trainer.

https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-455-training-rifle/

The trainer or Lux models are great rifles. My 455 Trainer had one of the best out of the box triggers of my 45x collection and was very accurate as well. A great way to get into CZ rimfire rifles. Hopefully the rear sight is still in place or at least is included as it's a great iron sight shooter as well.

I would bargain a bit on the price if possible as I bought my 455 Trainer for $350 new. If it has the iron sights, box, and original paperwork that's a plus ( at least for me). If the scope doesn't have AO or side focus that is a handicap in my book.

The CZ USA website offers a lot of information on discontinued models as well as the RFC members . . . which will help contribute.

Eagle0199 sir take a look at my CZs do you see the one that looks like what you saw ?

from what you have said so far you found a 455 Lux which came with a 20.5" barrel on it if it had a longer barrel like 24.8" then it would be a 455 Trainer and for $350 yes I would buy it

Side note: In my picture rifle #2 (455 Trainer) and #3 (452 Lux) from the left have the same barrel length...different models came with different barrel lengths.

Good luck on your quest We are here to help.

Eagle0199 sir rjferber is correct I paid $350 for my 455 Trainer brand new also and he did bring up a great fact that my 455 Trainer came with the best trigger out of the box of all my CZ rimfire rifles.

If its brand new grab it and run if it's used then haggle a bit...most gun shops that have scope on a gun are not that great it just gives them something to bargain with.

If it had a really nice scope of it then the price would be much higher. I would ask them if you can get it for $350 out the door...then your talking. If the scope does not do anything for you don't worry most shops will not take off the scope but if they do then offer $300 for it and see what they say. The good thing about it you have scope rings with your rifle.

No matter what you get it for if it feels right grab it...CZs are nice rifles.
