Sadly, no Frank. My normally understanding and patient wife has taken the firm stance that our 50th anniversary somehow pulls rank on a social gathering un matched in the free world. She has called up reinforcements! she has activated the Great Grand Kid Battalion. She has refused to launder my camo stuff. During our most recent negotiations she put me in a headlock and twisted my nose. I surrendered.

Sounds to me like you need to "endeavor to persevere."

Methinks she has a hold of a different part of your anatomy.

I got some new production Hornady 17 HM2 and CCI 17 HM2 to try in my Savage MK II and I was not very happy with the groups. I knew deep down I would miss a few shots this morning, and by miss I mean not a head shot. The groups I shot were 5 shot groups and only one of the five groups had three shots touching very disappointing, but much better then the groups I get with the last brick of Eley. Those groups would have two to three distinct flyers and none touching the distinct flyers were not just cracked cases but SPLIT Now the little 96/17HM2 Ruger (the Harv)was a different story with the Hornady. I will take it the next time I go to confirm. So todays hunt
Gun: Savage MK II 17 HM2 Ammo: CCI 17 HM2
One of these was looking right at me and I put it on his nose it went low thru the throat and out the ribs. One of them had to be shot twice as the lower jaw was taken out. Another was closer to the neck. The verdict is still out but for me a squirrel rifle has to be more accurate then that.

Got these yesterday and found some nice chicken of the woods mushrooms. I had to take a squirrel and some mushrooms to my father-in-laws best friend. He is in his upper 80's and going through chemo for the third time in the last 20 years. Sat there for an hour talking about my father-in-law that we lost 3 months ago. I also took a couple rifles I built out to show him, he just loves guns and hunting.

By the looks of the bolt and safety and the slender barrel I would say it is a Remington 581. One of the best light weight squirrel rifles I own is my '68 walnut stock 581.
