Which is the better rifle for 10 meter competition, the Air Arms T200 or the Crosman Challenger? Looking at 4H Sporter Air Rifle competition here.

Hi -

Here is my opinion and we own one of each:

* It depends on the height, arm length and strength of the youth.
* The T200 is more suitable for small framed shooters, with shorter arms, like 5 feet and under, while the Challenger is better for taller kids, or with longer arms.
* However, the T200 is suitable for adults at any height, and shoulders well and is well balanced. I am 5-10' and shot the Challenger in adult sporter and and love it.

For instance - My son is 13, but short for his age, and has short arms right now. He is currently competing in 4-H and CMP with the T200. He really likes the T200. In fact, he almost sleeps with it. Lol.

He says he likes the Challenger, but to him because of where his arm and hand support the rifle on the forearm, it feels front heavy right now, at his current height and arm length.

fyi - The T200 is shorter and lighter than the Challenger :
35.5" versus 38.75 to 41.75
6.61 lb's versus 7.30 lb's

it does not sounds like a lot, but it the net effect is that the balance and feel of the T200 often puts more kids on the line earlier in the sport.

Does that make sense? Hope this helps.
