Really dumb shotshell reloading question

Sorry for a really off the wall question, but is there a good way to clean hulls before reloading them?

It might be silly, but it pains me to drop a couple dirty looking shells into a nice O/U.

Thanks in advance!

dkemper..
I thought maybe someone would have jumped in by now. If they are the plastic hulls; I wonder if (Don't Laugh) washing with soap and water might work? Decap and running them through the washing machine? Blow them out with air and air dry or run them through the dryer?
Back in the 60's Pop and I reloaded for trapshooting. Once fired hulls were everywhere just for the asking/taking at the local trapshooting ranges. We just tossed anything that remotely looked soiled.

Our local trap club gives them away if you pick them up! The grounds are spotless after each round!

Regards, Jack

Jack,

Soap and water was my first thought, but I'm concerned about getting the soap up between the plastic hull and the brass base and having unseen corrosion issues. I'd hate to have a hull rupture!

For all I know, I'm way off base on that fear, but since I simply don't know, figured it be best to ask the question!

Truth be known, the idea of just stacking them in the dishwasher and running it is high on my list of soap/water ideas, but again, I'm looking for advice.

Might just take the manual hands on approach and wipe each one down with a bit of alcohol but facing a stack of 3 or 4 hundred shells, I'm looking for an easier way

Thanks!

I have never cleaned any of my shotshells and there are some really dirty one's. After about the 4th or 5th reload the crimp end is black but they still function in my shotguns. Unless your having reliablility issues I would just leave them dirty or buy new hulls and save yourself the headache of cleaning.
