Socket head action screws

Does anyone offer socket head action screws for the 77/22? (actually I want them for my 77/357 but expect they're the same)

None of my gunsmith screwdriver bits fit the Ruger screw slots.

If you do a search you will find that NO ONE makes the HEX head for the 77 series rifles they are a oddsize 10x24 . What I do is have the action drilled to except the larger 1/4 x 28 FACTORY Remington .

Some have used the Remington and had them re threaded to the Ruger thread. I even inquired to several companies and none were interested in making them

Good Luck

Nothing odd about 10-24 thread at all - it's a standard coarse thread.

Finding a socket head cap screw in 10-24 is a bit more challenging. I don't have time to pull the 77/22 out of the safe to check the head profile - I think it's a 90 degree countersink - but here's a resource you can paw through: http://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn/F...vid=4287685220

Other sources include McMaster-Carr and Grainger, in case MSC doesn't catalog what you're looking for.

Might be better in the long run to get a set like this - which covers about 90% of my gun screw needs: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-to...--prod417.aspx
