I was wondering what is going on with the ar platform. I understand they are hard to find right now but i have not seen a single one on a shelf in months. Are the going to fill back orders or something? Nobody around here has seen them. I guess i could just ask the dealers but thought i would ask here.

I ordered 2 Sigs a M400EC and a 556DMR the first week of January they told me it would be 4-6 months, but the M400 showed up Friday with a build date of 2-6-2013. They like all the other "sporting" rifles are being snagged up and sold for 2X-3X what they list for. I paid $866 for the M400 and they said the 556DMR was going to be about 1100 (longer barrel, bipod, quad rail). Now just have to wait for my CMMG LH 22LR upper to come in.

I never look for them, but walked into a local Walmart and decided on a spur of the moment purchase. Got a Colt M4 Carbine. Nice rifle I guess. Don't really know why I got the thing. Lugged one around enough when younger, so never felt attracted to them. Guess I just wanted to have one since the "craze" hit. Shot it once, and does fine. But doubt I'll shoot it much anymore.

The local "Black Rifle" guy has a terrible time keeping anything in stock. Went by there to pick up a rimfire I had shipped in to him, and noticed everyone there wanted to know when the next rifles would show up. Thought about bringing mine in, mention it was for sale, and watch the feeding frenzy.

But this craze has to die down sometime. The last craze came and went, this one will too.

Just be patient.

Kenny

They go fast as do the parts. My advice is load your browser with several shops and check each every hour or so and get on their mailing list. Facebook pages are another place to watch. Or you can just wait a few months.

If you are paying double the value I'll sell you mine.

Never really thought about one until last fall when i was looking at a 22-250. Started looking at. 223s because of ammo cost. A couple of friends use theirs for coyotes. Maybe the shortage has peeked my interest.

Got a CMMG .22lr upper with a 20" barrel. It's a tack driver and runs smooth as silk. Been whipping up on the master class in the silho matches against target rifles and sights, I'm running the military sights. Chaps their butts! ...O.L.

I hear Stag is 2 years out on backorders, and I believe Ruger stopped taking orders. Oddly, Bushmaster has gotten enough bad press lately that I hear that's the easiest place to get one. I've also seen Cav MkII lowers for reasonable prices, if that's your cup of tea.

It's not over in CO, we're approaching July 1 when we lose some more freedom, and ARs are still pretty high, although you can find them now. I think people are running out of money to hoard.

Strange to see that you're in 'Vegas, too. I saw 3 at the Walmart on Marks St., at normal prices.
I got one and loaded "enough" ammo for it before the madness began. It's a cool rifle, but I don't feel as attached to it as my 10/.22's which I can tinker with a lot more. The AR is just a collection of pre-made parts from various sources, at great expense.

Stopped by Sportsman's Warehouse in Loveland, CO looking for powder, and instead found 10000+ rounds of 223 and 556. No powder of course, Oblah-Blah has it all in his basement. Couple weeks back they had to have 8 or 10 ARs on the shelf, pretty regular prices, nobody even looking at em.
