I am looking forward to finding the quirks in this one and getting it tuned.

I have some eley ready to go as that is what the old 52D likes also.

Best Regards,
How did it work out?

Yes, still active, although slow lately. Thanks for the number. That is one I already had, but do not have any info on it. I assume it is the standard heavy weight version in Marksman stock, counterbored muzzle?

I would guess between 2,286 - 2,850. My earliest number is 122593, and latest number currently shown 125419. Bruno Pardee (Winchester employee) stated 125418 & 419 were the last production E's made.
I currently have serial numbers for 481 E models.

Steve,

I saw this one....

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/640347586

Brochure says it was one of the last four made and has serial number 125053. Do you know this gun? Did they number them consecutively?

James

I do know the gun. I was at the Rock Island auction several years ago, when it sold. This was one of the firearms sold from the large Peter and Patty Murray collection. Peter had this gun built by the custom shop in the early 90's. A friend of mine was the custom shop manager at the time and he told me they built many unique rifles for the Murrays'. They were all oddball rifles, with long barrels, short barrels, odd chamberings etc. They built several 52's using left over receivers. There were 2 or 3 E sporters as well. I believe one was a 22 short and one was a 22 mag. The collection was sold over at least 3 RIA auctions, it was quite extensive.

Thanks for listing your number. At this time, all I am developing is a master database for the D & E variations. I will let someone else handle the B's.

I have e122890, Not D&T . How hard is the hand stop to find and what are the best iron sights for it?

Thanks for taking the time to send your s/n. The handstop/swivel ***'y is same as was used on the D models. They are not extremely hard to find. Keep your eyes on Ebay, and at the gun show's. They show up occasionally.
That's a loaded question on best sights. Probably the most commonly seen are the Redfield Internationals. They are also probably one of the 2 most commonly available along the the Redfield Olympics. When you start talking "best", I equate that to a Gates rear and Freeland tube front. They get pretty pricey!

Thanks Mark. Had both in database from previous owners. I have a good description of the E. I have the D down as a CMP rifle with Kenyon trigger also. Does the D have the rear swivel, U.S. markings, and oil finished stock?
thanks,
Steve
