A friend of mine from back home picked up this 52B Heavy Target in an estate sale then resold it to me. It had sat in a closet for nearly 20 years and the layers of dust were impressive. It was definitely shot a bit. Upon tear down I discovered that it had a Canjar trigger installed. Some light surface rust over numerous spots and the stock had seen better days, not collector grade by any stretch. I sanded the stock down to remove the old varnish but did not strip it as I wanted to retain the original stain. Took me nearly a month, but I refinished it with 100% tung oil thinned with mineral spirits.

Hello, new member to the forum. Brought this 52B back to life from 1948. Great information here on the 52 Winchesters.

Later, Brad

Hello,
I found this site just last night and it seems like a pretty good place to hang out. The below pic is of my 52B and a suicidal grey squirrel killed with it last fall. My wife and I refer to this 52 as my "Appendix" rifle. I found this rifle at a gun show back in '89 and the guy wanted $1500 for it. We were both in college and honestly there were days that we were lucky to have 50 cents for a pop. A few days after seeing this little gun I came down with appendicitis and the only way I would agree to go to hospital was if June bought it for me. How she swung $1500 then is still a mystery to me, but the girl came through. Lord but I love ths woman. I was in hospital for a week with peritonitis.

That's beautiful, Mr. black. You are a lucky and blessed man, for the 52 and the girl that cared so much for you. Welcome.

My Uncle gave this Mod. 52 to me. It was his prone rifle at Camp Perry way before WW 2. It has an Eric Johnson 6 groove barrel. It out shoots my capablities! Old fashion bull barrel. Single shot, blind mag. Low receiver number, 17XXX. Lyman Super Target Scope. Put the Harris on for local Precision Tac and reduced F Class shoots. It kicks butt!

Below are pictures of the Pre-A Target model I got off Gunbroker. Unfortunately, the scopes did not come with it and I was unable to win the auction for the Unertl I would have liked to put on it. You can see in the pictures that the stock is heavily modified. The butt is made of three separate pieces of wood. The lower piece is held on with two stainless steel bolts running into the stock. I am not sure what is holding on the top piece. Under the forend, there are two holes which have been filled and sanded smooth. When I took the stock off, there is a nut for a sling at the location of the forward hole. The rear hole is a mystery to me. It is not evident in the pictures but the barrel has a slight plum color.

My New 52 A

we finally got some good light so I took a few photos on my newly
acquired 52 "A"

Its in super condition and I really don't think it ever had more than a couple or rounds through it. The is only one small scuff on the mag and the bolt face shows
only a very slight scuff.

I was lucky to get this one. I added the scope it came to me with no sights
it actually looks as if it never had sights on it.

Niedner 52

My Niedner barreled 52 Pre A speedlock. This is my silhouette rifle as it is the one where I can get the scope adjusted out to 200 meters, (16 X Unertl). Rebarrled By Carlyn Berrmann in Niedners shop 1935.
