Sure has been quiet around here. Range report today 30Mar17. Rem 547C in .17HMR, 20X scope, Hornady 17 gr V-MAX. 50 yards, benched, 44F, wind, overcast. 10 5X groups. The very last shot, bull 10, to the right of center, opened that group up to 23/32", the other 4 in 21/64". Throwing out that last shot gives a c-to-c average about 0.369". Including it is c-to-c about 0.409", always 1 outlier:

New 547C

Still is quiet around here. Found the following listing for a new 547C 22LR. Claim the list price is $2995 selling for $1995, must be Dakota production. The wood actually has some nice figure and fiddleback:

that is an incorrect retail, also this rifle I'm pretty sure is pre-dakota, not a bad rifle to grab guys, I'd negotiate the price, nice wood. Good find MN22LRFan!!

New Custom Classics

Looks like Hendershot's has two Dakota/Rem CS standard 547s in stock, the Custom Classic. Plain walnut wood, checkering looks good, about $1400:

Remington 547

First Stop Guns has one too, at $1295. It's been there for several months now. I can't say if it's a Rem Custom Shop product or a Dakota.

I would have bought it already but I ordered a C grade from Rem Custom / Dakota.

Hoping you get treated right, any word what the wait time is? It took 6 months for mine to be completed at the new york custom shop. My remington 547 is at the dakota shop now as we speak because of a bedding job that damaged my stock and has to be refinished now. Hope it turns out well only time will tell.

Rem CS

joelkdouglas - did they offer, or did you get any, options for your 547C ? Wondering about barrel length, wood upgrade, glass bedding and free-floated barrel ? And again the delivery date ? The First Stop rifle has a Dakota laminated target. Thanks.

Remington 547

Thanks to you both, Dakota has done well so far. They are only open Monday through Thursday and there's only one person coordinating all the rifle orders, so they don't always answer the phone. But I'm a busy guy, not always at my desk either! He has always answered my emails, which is good enough for me.

I did get some options. Specifically I requested a front hooded post and rear peep sight, shadow line cheek piece, and hand checkered fleur de lis checkering. I would love to add more, like Ken Howell studs, and skeleton butt and grip. Dakota offers all those options and more but I got to the limit of what I wanted to spend. They have a booklet that lists options and prices.

I did ask about pillar bedding. They told me the rifles are glass bedded but no pillars. It's also not an option or I would have added it, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me.

I didn't ask about changing the barrel length. I think it's 22 inches?

As for the wait I ordered in March and I think it will be ready late summer or early fall. This is my first custom rimfire but I have several custom centerfires. Most gunsmiths have one or more quirks, poor communications, grumpy, missed deadlines, etc. Only a few like Echols and Borden seem to overcome these challenges, but their rifles are quite expensive! I'm a patient guy and I have a Remington 597 to shoot in the mean time.

In the end I wanted a 100% American made, nicely wood stocked rimfire. I think my choices are Remington/Dakota and Cooper. Both very good, I chose the Remington because I like my 700s and I think it will be a little lighter than the Cooper for hunting, offhand, etc.

Remington 547

Douglas, Dakota emailed it to me. The file is about 10 MB, and it includes the 2016 Dakota, Remington custom, Nesika, and Marlin models. They might have a 2017 book by now.

I don't know how to post it without taking a screenshot, saving each page as a JPEG, etc to upload here, and then it might be out of date anyway. I would recommend talking with Dakota for their most up to date book!

If you aren't able to reach Dakota I could send my dated copy if you share your email.

I called Dakota custom left a message to email me the
booklet. Just my gut, not really expecting to get it from
them. I think back to dealing with a guy named Shane
at the Illion custom shop. thanks, douglas
