Well I figured I could tap the wealth of knowledge here at RFC, what is the muzzle diameter on the classic and C grade? Is there a difference between the two? I have been eyeing up a new rim fire for a while and the info on the 547s seems to kept under lock and key lol or my google search skills need a major overhaul. I have yet to find one local to me (lower Alabama) to actualy put my hands and eyes on

Remington could produce 547s, 547Cs or 40Xs IF they were motivated to do so....Just speculation on my part but I think the potential profits may be too skinny for them to be inclined to put these models into regular production...and looking at the big picture it's difficult to argue against that decision from a manufacturer's perspective which is not that of the relatively small number of consumers who wish (hope) for these models....

Remington can put out a 700 30-06 ADL for less then $400.00

There is NO reason that they cannot produce and or produce a lot of 40-X single shot or a "700" rimfire ADL and not make money.

Range report

Finally lower wind and a bit warmer around here, hit the range with my Rem 547C sporter in .17HMR. 40F, low wind, overcast, 50 yards benched, 20X scope, 5X groups, Hornady 17 gr V-Max. Only one group, #8, larger than 1/2", 10 group average is 13/32" center-to-center:

Tried 20 gr XTPs next, not very consistent, many groups with one flyer really opening up the group.

Nice shooting, looks like it would be m.o.s. (minute of squirrel)

Ok you 547 junkies one last question, how are the barrels attached to the recievers? All the pics I have seen look like they are threaded in like the 700 or am I overlooking something.

Clamped in with slot in the receiver and bolts that pull the slot together to lock the barrel in. Like the original 504?
