Installed timney kit in my sporter 77/22 and worked like a charm. This morning I change my FAVORITE 77/22 sear and spring out and I get flippen slam fires! The instructions state to test for this but don't mention a remedy. What now? This gun is very accurate with its o.k. factory sear/spring. I was hoping this swap would get it into outstanding territory.
Any advice?

Put factory spring in with timney sear. Feels better .... maybe 3ish pounds.

Put the Timney spring in with the Factory trigger and sear. It's what I do AND they work great. The Ruger factory trigger is typically quite good, just needs a lighter spring. They rarely have much creep.

Update... since I sent my sporter 77/22 to the Canadian ruger warranty centre, I pulled the timney sear/spring kit and replaced with the factory ones. I tried this timney spring in my 77/22 VT and again got slam fires. It works fine in the sporter version.
The trigger assembly on the vt looks a little different than the sporter version. So I replaced the factory spring and left the timney sear in the VT and trigger does feel better. Definitely cleaned up the fliers and I get consistent 3/4" and smaller groups at 50 yards. Just gonna leave it like that.
