.17HMR Golden Boy Sight In

Had my new rifle out yesterday and was trying to get it dialed in. I was playing around at the 25 yard distance and it was shooting extremely high (6"), no matter what I tried to do with the rear sight.

Any suggestions or similar experiences out there?

After dropping the rear sight all the way down, see if your white diamond insert can also be lowed by the two screws on either side of it.

That should bring you closer to center.

Thanks - I didn't realize there was an elevation adjustment on the notched portion of the rear sight as well. I saw the windage adjustment and thought that was it.

I had a problem siting in my H001 when I first got it. The adjustment ramp was in backwards. I'd check that. The lowest point should be closest to the hammer end of the receiver. I forget if I was shooting high or low, but with each adjustment it got worse until I checked the catalog to discover proper placement. I've since put a scope on it (old eyes) and it shoots like a champ. Good luck.

Took my H004M to the range. Shot about 7" high. Checked the rear sight, it was bottomed in the slot, elevation slide out and still shot high. Since my 84 yr old eyes didn't want to challenge the mechanical sights any more so I just added a leupold vx2 2-7x33 (originally planned on the rimfire vx1 2-x28 but 4 places were sold out so upgraded to the vx2 and not sorry, the rifle is dead on scary accurate.

You could get a higher front sight, they are fairly cheap, and easy to replace
