Fun range session for T/C R22 - getting better but not great

So today, while many other folks were stuck in "let's leave work early for the holiday weekend" traffic, I went to the range. Had the place to myself. I took my T/C R22, since it hasn't had too many rounds through it, and my only 10/22 for comparison.

The R22 has a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 rimfire scope on it, my wood-stocked 10/22 carbine has a Weaver RV7 2.5-7x28 rimfire scope. I was using Protektor front and rear bags, and fired six 5-shot groups each of three different ammo types at 50 yards. Conditions were sunny, ~80, no wind.

Results, average of six groups:

T/C R22
CCI SV - 0.865"
Aguila SV - 1.594" !!!!
Tac 22 - 0.750"

10/22
CCI SV - 0.698"
Aguila SV - 0.875"
Tac 22 - 0.917"

I had a couple pretty good groups (for me) mixed in there, but overall averages make them disappear.

On balance, my stock 10/22 is outshooting my R22. The 10/22 does have a Brimstone Tier 3 trigger job, and frankly, I think that makes a huge difference. After shooting the 10/22, the R22 trigger takes some getting used to. To me, it seems it has a very long travel, and an indistinct, mushy kind of break. It doesn't seem to have a heavy pull weight, just an overall lack of feel.

On the plus side, it finally shot the Tac 22 well; prior average for that ammo was 1.35" as opposed to 0.75" today. To make up for that improvement, it shot the Aguila SV absolutely miserably. That surprised me. CCI SV results were on par for previous sessions.

I like many features of this gun, but I am still a bit disappointed it doesn't shoot better. So far, the 10/22 is not the least bit nervous.

I sent my r22 trigger to brimstone, need to order the BX tigger job. it made a big difrence in the feel of the trigger. Mine was similar to yours, not a heavy pull, but more travel then Iwould like and a not so clean break. I use the gun for steel challange, so I have not put a scope on to shoot groups since the trigger job.
