Heres my story. After much thought and research, I decided to buy my first semiauto 22. Almost thru check out on Buds website , and I changed my mind, deleted the Marlin 795, and upgraded to the $35 more 1022 carbine in the tupperware stock. And a 3x 9 Tasco rimfire scope. And a case of Wolf Target Ammo that was on sale . Spent the whole summer shooting at the range all weekend long.
That gun was magnificent, once I learned how to shoot it. Quarter size or groups at 50 yards on a consistent basis, many smaller.
Yes I did the diy stuff to it, but no aftermarket parts till i used it as a donor rifle for my first build .
Years later I resurrected it , put the barrel into a spare receiver , and a different tupperware stock, and other spare bits and pieces. A bx trigger, though, and it shoots great, 1 Moa on a consistent basis. Its my lending gun when I go to the range with a new shooter
In between , i bought a few Marlin Model 60 s , and 795s, didnt like them for various reasons , and they are gone. Crappy trigger, stupid tube, rube goldberg guts, Scary buffer, and I dont like Blue Cowboys
Tried other semi autos too, dont have any of those either. Except for the Norinco copy of the Browning SA .
IMHO the 1022 is the best semi auto 22, out of the box, and certainly after the box:bthumb:
