My rifle/pistol club used to hold Rimfire Silhouette matches,,,
With targets at 25, 50, 75, & 100 yards.

Now they hold Rimfire BPCR Silhouette matches,,,
With targets at 50, 100, 150, & 200 yards.

I have paper practice targets for the normal Rimfire Silhouette matches,,,

I like to go to the range and set-up the normal rimfire targets,,,
Then shoot a match round just for the fun of it,,,
It's relaxing and is pleasing to my psyche.

Now that I have a rifle capable of accurate fire at 200 yards,,,
I would like to try the same thing at the longer distances.

My question is this,,,
Are the target sizes the same for both silhouette matches?

Any insight would be appreciated.

25, 50, 75 and 100 were the "OLD" distance for Hunter Pistol Silhouette, IHMSA Field Pistol and IHMSA small bore. Hunter Pistol later changed to 40m for C's due to splash back. These are the distances for Lever action Small bore and Pistol Cartridge. Also, made it more conducive for a range to shoot SB Rifle Silhouette, only needed to add a 60 m bank and just shot turkeys at 75 or added a separate stands for 77. HP, FP and LA use 1/2 scale targets, SB used 3/8 scale targets.

IHMSA still shoots 22 rimfire at 25, 50, 75, 100 yards. The SB (22 rimfire) targets have 2 sizes, 3/8 scale and 1/5 scale. In the 3/8 scale the chickens are about the size of a tennis ball. In the 1/5 scale the chickens are about the size of a golf ball. HP is the acronym for NRA Hunter Pistol, FP is the acronym for IHMSA Field Pistol. Both use 1/2 scale targets (chickens about the size of a large orange) and are shot with mostly straight walled handgun calibers but also with .22 Hornet, all from Standing position.

NRA shoots mostly in meters. They also shoot the 1/5 scale targets with rifle (offhand) but in meters instead of yards. The lever guns use thinner steel targets but from 50-200 meters/yards.

So when you say your club used to shoot rimfire silhouette, it can mean different things to different people.

Thanks for the informative replies,,,

Thanks for the informative replies,,,
The info is very helpful.

I'm bummed out though,,,
I just tried to print out my targets,,,
I'm getting an error message that the files are corrupted.

A few days ago I tried uploading them to this thread as .pdf files,,,
But the message said they were too large to upload.

I tried reducing the file size but they were still too large.

I have no idea why but now the files are corrupted,,,
I can't open either of the two versions.

I am BUMMED!

Mainly because I can't find where I originally downloaded them.
