All Guard shooters were using military property marked MKII's around me at a Bullseye Pistol Match. First ones I have seen, you can see the marking on two different MKII's they were both the same barrel length, might have been 6 inch barrels instead of 5.5 inch blued pistols.
Generally, those with the US above the ser# were the ones sold to the government. There are ones built to that spec but sold through civilian channels.
I have a civilian Mark II on the way to my FFL as I type this. They also made them as Mark IIIs. There are some built as stainless, but they are RARE. No production numbers that I could find.
I did end up with a Mark II civilian Government in Stainless, so I have blue and silver. Blued one needs to go back to Ruger for rebluing before I put in the VQ kit and extended mag release.
