MY TWO K22 MASTERPIECES

When it comes to .22 cal. revolvers, it's hard to beat the Smith and Wesson K22 Masterpieces. I have two, a 1948 (6") K22 and a 1978 Model 17-2 (8 3/8"). Both are masterpieces of construction and smooth, accurate shooters.

Pretty nice . I think your 17-2 was made much earlier than 1978 . I believe the late 1960's ? , I have a 17-3 with a production date in 1972 .

K22

I have a K22 4 screw model 17 incorrectly not stamped by the factory made in the first 6 months of the model 17's production of 1956. It is scarce to say the least because there not many made that the factory did not stamp as a model 17 under the cylinder crane. One owner, before I found it and according to S&W who checked it out they estimated it had less then 500 rounds through it.

Looks like this:

It wears target stocks cause I and my grand children shoot it fairly often.

I have the original grips and the extremely difficult to find knurled sight adjustment tool. No box.

I also have a PDF copy of the S&W manufacturing process which is the point of my post, which includes pictures such as:

and created by Carl Hellstrom.

I would be more then happy to send you a copy of this file but cannot via RFC.

If you send me your email, address, which I will not release to anyone else, I can do that for you.

The K22s are real gems. Between the K22 and the Colt Officer Model Match revolvers you would have some of the best 22 revolvers made which were in competition with each other for many years.
