You got it Smallblock. I bought the Magpul X-22 Takedown stock from Mike at the above mentioned address… He does great work and is super helpful if you have any questions!

Well, after much thought into what would be the best barrel solution for the competitions I will be competing in and the scenarios I will use the rifle, I decided to go with a Volquartsen Carbon Fiber Takedown barrel. I will be doing some extensive ammo testing and post up the results once I get it all figured out. The barrel quality and fit/finish look outstanding so far… as expected from Volquartsen! Here is the first picture I took:

Oh, brother! You have got me hooked now! I was over at the 10/22 stock vendor's website you got your Magpul from and was also looking at the Volquartsen barrel and now that I have seen it put together I want to set my Take Down also like yours! Wow, it looks so sweet! I want to keep weight and size down so I am using an Aimpoint H-1 Micro RDS. For target shooting I have a 10/22 Tactical Target rifle with a Nikon EFR Prostaff rimfire scope. Thanks for starting this thread and taking the time to update us on your build.

Thanks mauiblue! The Magpul X22 in the takedown configuration has been sweet so far, you'll love it! Black Widow is coming along nicely now, and I will have my ammo test results with the new barrel up soon.
Here are a couple more pictures of the Volquartsen Carbon Fiber barrel, one closeup to see the way the carbon fiber is layed up and one to see the fit between the stock and barrel.

I was able to do the first half of my ammo testing the other day and here are the results.
For this go around, I cleaned the barrel in between loads and re-zeroed with the sighter target (center bottom of target page) to keep the groups centered. I also shot 5 groups of 5 shots and measured each group. Then I averaged all the groups and wrote that on the target page for reference. As before, rifle was shot indoors, on a lead sled fully supported and rigid, at 50 yards.
On some of the loads I didn't have enough rounds left to do the full test so I did the best I could. Hope this helps anyone looking to see how this setup can shoot!

Here are the group averages (measured with caliper in inches):

Eley Match - 0.7881
Eley Match EPS - 1.1763
Eley Club Extra - 0.6554
Eley Target - 0.7884

Sure, no problem, already did it actually because I wanted to know too!

The barrel without the picatinny mount but with the takedown block weighs 18.95 oz.
The barrel WITH the picatinny mount and the takedown block weighs 21.15 oz.
As a point of comparison, my stock Ruger barrel weighed 28.10 oz.

Nice groups, sure beats what I've been getting. So how would you rate the barrel comparably to the stock barrel?
Question: Your images of the barrel crop in. The Volquarsten TD barrels have the scope rail mounted ON them, a feature I'm curious about re accuracy addition... but reluctant to purchase since in that configuration I lose the iron sights. Did you remove the rail, or just inadvertently crop it out?

Thanks Cappy! I have only had the barrel out to shoot once… but it is definitely an improvement over the stock barrel… before, the groups were sort of all over the place as far as sizes go, now they are consistently smaller and some A LOT smaller!

As far as the rail goes, I took it off and just sticking with the receiver rail and Warne QD rings… I can switch between the red dot or the scope fast enough and it all easily fits in the bag that way. That is what works for me but YMMV!

Gun looks good. Love the custom stock. You should chop that factory barrel down to 5" and SBR the receiver.
