Bob, Steve,

Nice finish job on both.

Bob, you asked about others, I know of one other here and I'm sure he will be along soon. I also have one still in semi-finish but for an Anschutz, never did anything on it.

52E left hand stock

After a couple years quest I came upon a 52E, it was to me like finding the 'holy grail'.

A right hand rifle, it was mounted on a left hand thumb hole stock. From what I read this is apparently an after market stock, but I can find no labeling. It's a D stock, at least it has the bedding block.

I've since found a standard 52E stock, removed the scope and put on Redfield International rear iron sight and an Olympic Globe front sight, from CMP.

Planning on eBaying the LH stock.

Fajen

That appears to be a Fajen stock with Canjar butt hardware. For the most part you will not find names on these after market stocks of any kind. Its a matter of design and shape and they all varied. Fajen was the most common and most were sold as semi-finished so there maybe slight differences depending on how the owner finished them.

Thanks

Thanks. I did some googling and that sounds about right.

Here's the rifle after I modified (back?). It's a true 52E stock, no bedding block, no mag well and the butt pad has 'Winchester' molded into it. The sights are from CMP.

I also bought a RH thumbhole from Richards. Came weeks and weeks late almost into the winter season, so didn't have time to work it. Went searching eBay and found this one, now I can't even think about working that thumbhole ; it may go on eBay with the LH,

Freeland/International style stock

Here is one I recently picked up off of GB. It's a Freeland style/International I'm pretty sure. Had a later 52E action in it as it was bedded and the action had the rectangular recoil lug on the bottom of it.

The stock is for a lefty. Which I am. Not sure if it came from Winchester/factory installed on the rifle of if someone restocked the 52E.

Later, Frank

I'm wondering about value of this left hand stock

I'm going to try to sell this, maybe on eBay. Any idea what the value might be. I got the factory E stock for around $350 in an eBay auction. Would be nice to recover that, but wonder about it being left hand on a right hand rifle.

To bad it's not a International stock. I would buy it. Think about lefty's years ago. There where not many left handed rifles/actions being made especially in target rifles. So what was a lefty's option? Buy a right handed rifle/action and putting a left handed stock on it. That's how I built my first custom rifle. Look at my post above yours. That's a left handed International stock. It had a 52E barreled action in it when I got it.

left hand

Recently, or I should say finally discovered that I am left eye dominate. Been told I should learn, teach myself, to shoot left handed. Personally way too complicated for me. I've got a cover for my left eye.

It seems too different, difficult, to be working a bolt and feeding rounds that way. I'd much rather be focused on hitting the mark.

My last year production 52B heavy barrel. Unknown who the maker is on this stock. Purchased the gun with original factory stock, and this stock came with it. Put the factory stock away, and have always used this one instead:
