Just curious how many dry fire their BL.22 while shooting? Without counting every shot or looking in the chamber to see you have another round or even loading and forget to chamber a round. Then you get the click I figure Browning must have taken this into account with the design. Kinda like a 10/22 with a last shot no bolt hold open.
Ruger has it built in with a Firing pin stop. The Browning BL-22 I usually count my rounds, do the same with my Marlin and Winchester also. But on occasion I still miss count or my kids will miss count and have that dry fire. I don't like it.
Jammer the only ones that have had trouble breaking are the Roll Pin ones that they used for a short period. I don't think the solid ones have any problem. But of course I could be wrong. Not 100% positive.
I don't like dry firing any .22 rimfire. You could use one of the metal snap caps that are available for the last round. I wouldn't use the plastic variety, because I have had those shatter.

I agree! I've had one MK II pin go bad and one on a 10/22 but I agree by in large the 10/22 is pretty solid and reliable the lever guns are just supseptable to preening the breech

Maybe a .22 short for the last round may help.
