Does anyone know why this model while wood stocked and blind magazine like the adl of old has a rounded 721 or 78 sportsman style knob on the bolt.

Does the serial # on the bolt match that of the receiver?

My 700 is the same way. I think the ADL's were an "economy" version of the 700, and that round knob is probably cheaper to produce than the "flat" version.

I have a 70's ADL. I haven't looked at the bolt for awhile, but I'll go check it out!

You might look on the left side of the receiver and see if it's got two tapped holes with filler screws. If so, a Williams 5D peep sight makes a far better rear than the factory one. It's what I have on mine. That is provided you don't want to put a scope on it.

I'm not sure, but Williams may also make a sight that mounts to the tapped holes on top where the scope mounts.

I would think it has a M700ADL stock because a previous owner wanted a walnut stock ILO the M-78's "hardwood" uncheckered issue stock.

Send a message via AIM to James Cottrell
They had a rep as being tighter, and therefore more accurate. But that is questionable.

I have an ADL with an early stainless steel barrel. I canít remember what the bolt handle looks like. I will have to dig it out.
