700 mountain rifle

Found a 700 mountain rifle with detachable mag and walnut stock. It's in 7mm-08 so I brought it home to match the wife's model seven in 7mm-08. It has a millet one piece base and rinds also came with a spare magazine for 600 even. Pics to come.

Very sweet. That's a beautiful rifle there.

All the mountain rifles I have seen wore light kevlar stocks and had super thin pencil barrels. They aren't benchrest rifles - but they are the best ever when you are carrying a rifle for several days on end.

Also does anyone know of or have any info about a limited run of a European mountain rifle in 7x64. Detachable box mag, open sights, and hand rubbed stock.

My 1990s Rem 700 25-06 mountain, noodle barrel, was very accurate with some factory fodder and even more so after I bore lapped it. It made my bestest long shots on game.

Had one in .280 Remington (7mm-06) that was decently accurate but just plain no fun to shoot, a 7-08 Tikka T3 kicked it out of the house.

Holy Smokes Gerald now that is one sweet looking rifle. I had a 7mm-06 it was my first CF rifle I bought...I spent months crunching numbers and specs and the 7mm-06 was the one for me. My younger brother has it now....maybe it's time for me to ask for it back. 7mm-08 is a very nice choice also...just wish CZ made a 527 FS in that caliber....I would buy one in a heart beat.

Signalman do you want just the 7mm-08 or the twins including the 7x64 European mountain rifle.

I just wish light rifles would come with loading recipes. Doing load development with one is expensive and the recoil in brutal.

7mm-06 would be great but 7mm-08 is plenty enough recoil for me.

Sav99fan sir I have more than I need I was just giving you a hard time. I still have not shot my CZ 527 Royal in 223, 550 FS in 308, 527 Varmint in 222 or my brand new to me 527 FS in 22 Hornet I got from Bandit1250. Work and family matters has kept me from getting out there to do any shooting. so I am good to go.

Your rifle just brought back great memories of shooting with my father.

SavagePlinker sir good morning and thank you for all the great advice you have given me in the past. You are correct light weight rifles can be brutal.

Have a fantastic day.

I was talking about the request for pictures of the 7mm-08. Do you want pictures of the twins.

Ok I just took a picture of the twins to make it easy😁. Here they are Signalman. The 7x64 European mountain rifle in the back. The 7mm-08 mountain rifle in the front. The difference between the two are the sights and hand rubbed stock other than that they are the same profile barrel and stock.
