15-22 Muzzle Brake/Comp

Log in to see fewer ads
I can find very little info on muzzle brakes or compensators for 15-22s. I did a search here and only a few posts came up. I did find this one from Tactical Solutions on Midway USA at the link below, but the Tactical Solutions website is not showing it so not sure if they are not making it anymore.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/53...g#ReviewHeader

I know many people will say they are NOT needed on a 22Lr, but I still want one to reduce/eliminate muzzle rise. Is anyone using a muzzle brake of comp on your 15-22 you recommend?

Thanks

Maybe a try a barrel shroud as the weight should help keep the muzzle down and they look cool IMO.

Hello Quick, any 1/2-28 thread muzzle brake/compensator will fit your 15-22 and there are hundreds if not thousands of choices https://www.google.com/search?q=ar-1...hrome&ie=UTF-8

As to a recommendation, I'd say any of the choices would be fine. Is there something about the A2 style that came with your rifle that you don't like?

I have SLR Rifleworks muzzle brakes on both of my 15-22's.

I have the titanium one on the Volquartsen Carbon Fiber barrel
https://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?...roduct_id=1103

and a steel version on my other 15-22.
https://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?...roduct_id=1006

They are pretty efficient for single port brakes, but they are primarily to make the rifle louder so the timer picks them up for competition.

SLR also makes a two chamber version, but I have no experience with it.

Gregg, thanks, but the link you sent went to a thread protector. Can you resend the link to the comp?

I was just messing with you guys, I did just put on a thread protector. I have actually removed the comps from my 15-22's since they serve no purpose other than to give me something else that I have to keep clean. I use my guns for Steel Challenge so I shoot them a lot and a comp just adds extra weight and does nothing to make me faster. I originally had a comp to make sure the timer picked up the shots but have found that a properly positioned timer works just fine plus I have some of the new AMG Lab timers ordered that will pickup even dry fire.

The only reason for the comps on 15-22 would be the cool factor but since cool doesn't make me faster I ditched the comps in favor of easy maintenance.
