Remington 510P Chrome Parts

Log in to see fewer ads
Gents,

Did Rem 510Ps come with chromed bolt assemblies and chromed triggers as the basic rifle for sale, or were these parts an upgrade of some kind from Remington?

I ask because I own a chromed 510P although the chrome is wearing off.

Could these parts be re-chromed without affecting the operation of the rifle?

Regards,

Benzo

currently own two 510 p's + one 511p + have examined + worked on numerous others , never seen one with chromed parts - never seen a reference to chromed parts in any factory literature or parts lists - what is the exact date code on barrel / - i'll check the catalogs + parts lists for your year -

Date code on rifle is WW, which I believe means the year 1950.

. . . and the bolt handles are a different shape. Mechanically compatible but certainly not identical in appearance.

I wasn't aware of nylon series bolts' appearance, but then I'm still somewhat new here and definitely dumb.

Hmmm. Maybe I am not using the correct terminology. Chromed may not be the correct term for the coating on my bolt assembly and trigger.

The color of the metal is like stainless steel flatware in our kitchen drawers. Not quite chrome, but definitely not blued, parkerized, painted, etc. The color is shiny except where light blackness appears due to wear.

And case hardened? What color is that?

I understand pictures would be nice, but the procedure to put pics on this forum is very difficult.

Regards,

Benzo

front part [ bolt body ] is polished metal - the handle , collar + beehive were either case hardened or blued from the factory - casehardening is mottled blue , gold , + other colors caused by heat process - attachments have not been working along with other features on RFC lately -
