SK Long Range Ammo range report

I thought this would be the best place to post this. I got the a brick of SK Long Range ammo. I shot it in my Kidd Supergrade, Tikka T1X, and CZ 455 Varmint. At 50 yds. the Kidd agg. 0.360, the Tikka agg. 0.410" and the CZ 455 agg. 0.408" Due to the wind a had a few 4 in and 1 out of the groups.

At 150 yds all gun shot with very little vertical, but i did have some horizontal do to the wind.
Kidd at 150 yds. 2- 5 shot groups around 1"
Tikka 150 yds. around 1.5"
CZ 455 at 150yds 2 - 5 shot groups less than 0.5" high 1.5" wide

I shot in windy conditions, and it preformed well. I will try it out next month in a long range steel match.

for pics see post below.

Mark! What? No 50 at 200?

Hope to try some with my next delivery.
See if I do as well.

Thanks for the initial report. I will be following with interest. The ammo has just been listed in Oz but not yet available. I will be keen to try it as I am involved in a 200yd steel event at my local club.

Thanks. Seen this but its kind of expensive. I would like to know what specifically makes it Long Range? I suspect its one of their other loads rebranded to capitalize on the LR craze...

It is curiously similar to their Biathlon Sport product, if the chart on the SK website is to be believed.

I will admit that "Long Range" ammo sounds cool.

I will probably stick with SK rifle match for now.

May I suggest you Buy As Much Of That Lot As Possible Right Now, even if it means selling your car, etc.

That's what I did after testing a couple of boxes through my RPRR (w/Shaw 18" match barrel) and got really good results. 50 round chrono numbers (from MagnetoSpeed v3 mounted from hand guard) were:

SD - 8.8
ES - 39
Low - 1111
Avg - 1128
High - 1150

I recorded them in 10 sets where the average 10 shot SD was 8.4 and the ES was 24.8. 10 round groups were at 1/2" at 50 yrds for me (not being a great marksman and dealing with 8mph wind from the 5 o'clock).

I'm SK maintains their quality control so we can count on this ammo's quality and that this is not just a case where QC is just getting attention for now during the launch of it.

MLR22TB, 17" graphite barrel, Indoors

Series 23 - Avg 1054, High 1069, Low 1039, ES 30, SD 10.7-9 shots
Series 22 - Avg 1055, High 1072, Low 1036, ES 36, SD 10.5-10 shots
Series 21 - Avg 1057, High 1089, Low 1031, ES 58, SD 14.9-10 shots

I have more series but I have to clean up my data as the LabRadar read other shots on adjacent lanes and skewed the results.

My major complaint is that the groups showed vertical stringing which correlated with the spreads in velocity. I have my Strelok Pro app set at 1048 for velocity and when the velocity was close to that my POI was almost in the center. The vertical stringing at 100 yards was as much as 2 1/2 inches. The horizontal group was acceptable.

I have photos but am at work right now. I will post them if there is interest.

Tried the SKLRM at 200 yards.
Typical midgrade 22lr.
ES above 40 fps means it's adequate practice ammo.
Results on target fit the MV spread.

If the word "Match" is on the box, it ain't.

Finely got to my 200yds silhouette Rimfire match to test SK LR ammo. Starting out with the chickens at 80 yds. center punched the first one, then the next was 1" over the top, "don't know where that came from" got the rest 9 out of 10. cleaned the pigs at 120yds 10/10. The turkeys cleaned me at 166yds. I was good on elevation but the wind got me on 4. 6/10. I cleaned the Rams at 200 yds for the first time. 10 for 10. I shot 35/40, top score was 37/40. The target are standard 100yds targets shot from a bench.
The SK LR is working for me. I shot some groups after the match. The wind had picked up, but groups still running 2" or less.
