I found one in very good shape. Only flaw is a end of muzzle has some of the finish a bit worn because it was wearing a bloop tube. The recessed crown is perfect though. It wears a Kenyon trigger and came with butt hook, palm rest, Lyman diopter and aperture system and all the trimming.
Since the pics were taken, I disassembled, cleaned thoroughly, dried and oiled all. It just needs mounts and scope and will be ready to add to my collection of bench rimfires.

Steeve: I will email you the serial number.

Gilbert

Anyone notice it had an ISU trigger? Pretty scarce, records show only 3 shipped with this option. Also, very early rifle for a matte finish. Probably one of those situations where the receiver was at the bottom of the bin and got overlooked until after Winchester changed the finish to matte.

Yeah I noticed it right away. But last time this subject was brought to light if I remember correctly it got a bit controvertial. If its the real deal then it would be 2 out of three. What say you Steve.

I say no way of knowing for sure. There are no records to substantiate. There are minor variations between the early and late triggers. However that still no guarantee. The first sales record for an ISU trigger on an IM is 1977. This rifle should have been assembled in 1971-72.

Thanks for that info Steve. May I ask where you found it? Oops, see you got that info from the sales records, missed that. Another question however when did they change from the black trigger guard?

The triggerguard/accessory rail changed from gloss black to polished aluminum around 124000 give or take. I'm sure the custom shop used whatever Freeland supplied them.
