I know your out there
Today I picked up a 39A, made in 1955 with a 20 inch barrel, and a straight stock like the Mountie.
It has screw filled holes on the barrel like I have read 39's from Sears or others were selling.
Wiki says the "Golden Mountie" was introduced in 1954. This gun has a blued trigger is "Micro Groove" marked, no golden trigger is just marked "model 39A."
Was this gun sold thru a company like Sears, or Montgomery Wards etc. and is there any way to tell what was sold as what?

Edit: What scope mount will fit, or are they still being made?
Four Screws on the side of the barrel.

1. Wikipedia ain't accurate. The "Golden" series wasn't introduced until 1957

2. IIRC the Weaver N2 mount will fit the d&t'd barrel holes. Ebay, gunbroker, etc

3. You could send the rifle back to Marlin and they would d&t it too, so there's no way to determine where it was originally purchased.
