Specifically for the RAR? Not that I'm aware of.

So, will we be able to buy the new Target's barrel from Ruger?

not outright. They may be willing to do the swap eventually, but don't count on it.....

Not only would you need the new target barrel but possibly a new stock since the barrel channel will have to be wider and I'm not sure the factory plastic stock can be modified enough.

Ok everyone I promised information on aftermarket barrels for the RAR so go check out the topic: Introducing Ruger RAK in this section. They are not self changeable per say but there is an option. I hope this helps the ones looking to re-barrel their RAR. kid...

I'm sure it will be the same as the 77/22.
Ruger won't sell any barrel separately. You have to send the rifle back to have the new barrel installed and then they will only give you the same as the original.
I have a blued RS and wanted to get a stainless varmint barrel without sights. Nope.

I just had mine rebarreled with a Lothar Walther blank at my lgs. The blank was $200 plus $300 to have it machined.
I think the problem is that the barrels are pressed and pinned so it's not as easy as say 10/22 or cz 455 with barrel lug design where the average consumer can make the swap. I wish Ruger would have threaded the receiver n barrel. You can get an aftermarket stock and timney triger, it's a shame Ruger designed it where you can't just buy an aftermarket barrel. Imoa if Ruger had disigned for an easy barrel swap the American would have been just as epic as the 10/22

Ruger will sell you a 10-22 target barrel for about a year now, think it was $130.
Smith charged me $150 to cut chamber and pin. Plus whatever the Boyds stock, Believe I paid $130 or so in walnut.
Very happy with the results.

5 rounds Geco .22LR @ 50 yards

Rich

I can measure the mounting surface of the original barrel if anyone needs the numbers.

Ruger won't sell any 77/22 barrels separately but will install one (because the headspace has to be checked).
You can get them from Green Mountain and Shilen. Since Ruger charges $130 just for installation + the cost of the barrel those two are probably cheaper (and more accurate) anyway.

I would like to see exactly what has to be done to the 10/22 barrel to get it to fit.

0.7585" had to be removed from the target barrel. I can't find my notes and my left arm is in a sling so unable to mic the tenons right now. I'm sure you get the idea, target barrel was shortened then turned down to fit the American receiver and rechambered and pinned.
