Progress is measured when mankind no longer has to cry out in frustration, "I cannot reassemble my pistol!"

Oh it looks like there are plenty of parts inside of the pistol if you want a challenge...plenty of parts. There is an exploded diagram of the frame and bolt and slide at the Ruger site. Page 31....32.....33 etc. M1911

Hopefully the pivot point will be well machined and hardened and the spring on the locking system is robust then it should work well and last. Look at a Contender pistol.

If wimp is defined as those who don't clean or disassemble the MKIII cause they cant put it back together then yes, there are lots of em out there.

Also there should be lots of used Mark IIIs at the gun counters waiting for new homes. Price??

So glad I've held off on getting a Ruger 22 pistol until now. The only reason to delay anymore is until there are some good options for threaded barrels.

Lightbulb it's not that complicated

If I read these posts before I bought my MKIII, I might have been scared away. So I'm glad I didn't because disassembly and re-assembly is easy once you follow the steps correctly. There are YouTube videos that are very helpful. By the way, I live in California where the lawmakers and Lt Governor Gavin Newsom are focused on disarming all of us. My point is the day may come when we would give anything to even have a pistol to disassemble. Thank you and good night.

The MK IV still has that stupid Magazine / Trigger disconnect.

If Ruger doesn't come through quickly, its only about $80 job

I have 2 MkIII 22/45s into which I have invested $150 or more each to shoot NSSF rimfire steel. I've yet to fire them in competition! So, I'll be waiting awhile before I look at purchasing a Mk IV. Besides, I have no problem with disassembly/reassembly of the Mk III.

"lift" up on the barrel. Look at how to disassemble the pistol.

Don't worry, Volquartsen and Tandemkross are probably working on aftermarket MKIV bushings, etc. as we post. The fix will be out soon enough. At least Ruger ditched the LCI.

Per my largest LGS, yes the Mk III is supposed to be history, they got caught with a large and varied inventory of them and ALL were marked down $40-$60, every model. They said they would reduce their inventory of Mk III's via the reduced price before they ordered any Mk IV's. It will be interesting to see how that works out, they also pointed out that the Mk IV's would run close to $80 more than the Mk III's for the equivalent model. Lot's of wait and see coming.

I was on the verge of ordering a Mark IV Hunter yesterday, to replace my Mark III. That is until I found out that the Gunblast reviewer measured the trigger at 4.5 lbs and Plinkster said that the trigger was better but too heavy to be called target grade. My Mark III measures 3 to 3.25 lbs letoff. This was a show stopper for me. I've cleaned the Mark III enough times that I no longer struggle with it. So I like the improvements, but not enough to justify a purchase.

Hopefully they didn't change the internals too much and you can still remove it easily. It also looks like it doesn't have the LCI which is good. That is one less thing to fix on a brand new firearm.
