Thanks to the CZ fans here, partially anyway, I've got one coming.

Not an American but for targets my 1:12 twist 527 Varmint likes Norma Tac 223 55 gr FMJ best out of all factory rounds that I've tested.

Also 55 grain Outback. At one time I was talking to CZ-USA and they said this is what they use to test their .223's. Not particularly cheap, but very good.

Who makes the Outback ammo?

My box just says "Australian Outback" and gives a shipping address in Melbourne, so I assume an Australian ammo manufacturer. DKG Trading, Inc. is reportedly the importer.

Their URL is here:

http://www.outbackammo.com.au/

A nice Chuck Hawks write up is here:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/outback_ammo.html

They use powders that are not temperature sensitive, and I have had excellent results with their 55 grain .223. One thing I like about them is that they print on the box what bullets they are using. In my case they are 55 grain Sierra BlitzKings.

The Norma is good stuff! I primarily shoot hand loads but I keep a stockpile of Tac 223 to use as fowling shots before I start shooting groups with hand loads. I've shot many 1/2" 3 shot groups and some 1/2" 5 shot groups with the Tac. Best part for me is that I get great brass for reloading!!

What is the difference in Norma TAC and PMC TAC ?
Both 55gr FMJs get good reviews on the WWWeb. The cradle of all knowledge and wisdom. (Sorry, I'm an old, grumpy cynic)

55 grain PMC FMJ at 100.
Bench was a 6' folding white plastic table located in a soggy pasture. Rest was my .22 ammo box (Stanley tool box) also plastic, and I was sitting on an orange, plastic bucket. Was a very basic setup with a lot of plastic components evidently. Scope was a Burris 4-14 I believe. Best group of the afternoon.

That's good shooting for the conditions. A better set up would probably shrink that group substantially. Are you planning to hand load for this rifle?

Can't remember the fellow's name from CZ's smithing department, but he mentioned that Sierra BlitzKings usually are great for handloading CZ 223s.

Thanks, looking forward to shooting it some more. Raining last time I was out, pistols and black guns, couldn't drag the beauty out.
I'm probably not going to reload, I've got to many bad habits already that I'm not very good at.
