Great looking rifle Rick. Would love to fine a flatback to add to my mild collection.

Here are mine.
42M

B46B, I got this one in a bag of parts, it needed a little work.

I have another 42M, but need to get better pic's of it.

I love the duck! Did the 42M Spiegel come with the Unertl style scope blocks? It sure looks nice. Regards, Rick.

Unfortunately it didn't come with the factory scope blocks, they are aftermarket bases.

Here are a few pic's of my second 42M, I replaced the stock, I believe it came off of a 42M(c), the only difference was the finger cut out in the mag hole and the peep sight cut out

Frank's Spiegel collection

I need to get started on posting my Spiegel models. Pictures to come shortly.
The number made is grouped with the Special Models as I feel the Special and Spiegel Models are one and the same. But then maybe not.

I will try to get pics of my W46B pretty soon.I believe the stock has been refinished but other than that it's in pretty amazing condition.

M51 Flatback

I have 17 differant Models of Spiegel rifles and only 2 have the brass tag and both are the duck. I have one other rifle with the holes but the tag has been removed in the past.

This is the end of the 17 differant Spiegel rifles I have. If any questions please ask.
P.S. The RFC posting system will only permit 20 pictures per post.
Enjoy until I find another rifle.
Frank

What feature(s) does the 25A have for making it a "Special" versus the regular Mossberg 25A offering? Is it D&T'd on top for scope mounts or have any other differences? Looks like the Mossberg catalog model 25 was designated as a Special/Speigel 125 in 1938 and then a Special 25A in 1939. Unofficially, production numbers indicate either 35 or 305 of the Specials (depending on which chart one is looking at) in 1939 only even though supposedly production numbers of over 12,000 Model 25A rifles were produced 1936-38.

M51 and M46B Mossberg Special / Spiegel Models

Here are some pics of my M51 and my M46B from the old Spiegel thread. Both of these came from the same estate and had at least 50 years of dust covering them when I acquired them. Both are just the way I got them with the exception of the replacement sight hoods. The scope and mount on the M46B is an early No.6. At the time I didn't know there was anything special about them. Thanks to you guys I know now that the M51 is 1 of 1482 produced in 1939 and the M46B is one of 891 produced that same year. Both are factory drilled and tapped for scope blocks. Neither has a brass disk on the grip or holes to indicate that there was ever one.

Since these photos were taken I have acquired and added the proper aperture for the M51's peep as well as a complete No.4 peep, sling, and original Mossberg swivels for the M46B. I've also put a few boxes of shells through each, more than a few through the M51, which feeds and ejects flawlessly. It just gobble up ammo!

Here is my Flatback. I was able to get this old gal up and running last year with help from tfrank, and I think Dennis too. Has a home made bolt knob and action rod. Had her out this morning and she runs like a sewing machine.
