I bought this as the perfect truck gun. Very short, handy and packs a punch out to 200 yards. Have pilled up a lot of varmints with this. Bullberry 22 Magnum match, Leupold 4.5-14. Thing just loves the Hornady 30 grain vmax.

Mike.

I am looking for a 12 inch .22LR barrel for my Easy Open Contender frame. I don't hunt or compete, but I really dislike an inaccurate gun.

For informal fun shooting at 50 yards or closer, using Mini-Mags, should I buy a Match barrel or standard?

What price premium is reasonable for a Match barrel?

Thanks.

Match 22 barrel cut down to 4.5" add 12" of stainless tube with 16 baffles and
it became one of the quietest 22's i have heard Form 1 servicable integral builds are fun.

We Contender addicts are in denial ! I can shoot calibers from 17 aguila (in my mach2 barrels ---- up to 45-70 in my custom shop heavy barrel ... all on the same frame (multiple frames in my case). I knew I had a bad case when I bought 2 new 17 hmr barrels and had them rechambered to 17 hornet ...... Oh,the shame of it all

Don't forget...

Don't forget that a rimfire TC Contender makes a great suppressor host. It's super quiet.

I have had two Contenders in .22LR.

My example of how accurate they were is when I shot three ground squirrels at 125 yards from the bench with 5 shots. That is stretching it for sure with the diminutive .22.

The other single shot I had, other than the Contender, was the Remington XP100 in .223 Remington.

With the .223 I could consistently hit the Steel Chicken at 220 yards but it would only "ring" them. The .223 wouldn't knock them off their perch.

It would be a heck of a Varmint Pistol though.

Hind sight is always 20/20 but I regret to this day on letting them go.
